Shimano XTR PD-M980 XC Pedal

When I first started mountain biking I got a pair of Shimano's entry level pedals and like them. I used them for about two years before wanting to try something different. I got a pair of Eggbeaters and used them for a year. My only complaint on those was the lack of base (I felt like the cleats on the pedal were digging into my foot). So I gave these a try because of the larger base and have felt much more secure. I initially had a problem with coming unclipped when putting a lot of force into the pedals but this was fixed when I finally got my cleat position adjusted correctly. I had a hard time justifying these over the cheaper XT pedals, but ended up with these because of weight and what seemed like a little larger surface area.
