D1403B Professional Ignition Lock Cylinder with Key

I've had issues with ACDelco "Advantage" parts, luckily this is a regular ACDelco part and works great! Amazon says this does not work for my 1981 Firebird Trans Am, but I can confirm that it works fine. I would cross check the part number on another auto parts web site to confirm for your application, but most likely any GM vehicle from the 70's or 80's can use this lock cylinder. Best thing about this lock cylinder is that it comes with real GM ignition keys with the GM logo, which looks and feels a lot better than the generic keys other branded lock cylinders come with.

My old key and lock cylinder would not allow the switch to turn backwards into the accessory position so I decided to replace the complete Lock Cylinder. This replacement Lock Cylinder fit perfectly and functions great. It installs in an afternoon if you have the proper tools to remove the steering wheel and steering lock plate. I highly recommend using a specialty tool to help remove the Lock Plate. The Powerbuilt 648466 Steering Wheel Lock Plate Removal Tool worked perfectly for my application.

Mechanic said it was easy to install $75 later. Good quality, but I noticed the key sometimes is hard to go in. but for a 1980 car it works fine. I would recommend to a friend.

I bought this to replace the well worn original ignition cylinder in my 1984 Chevy K10. It's a great part and came with 2 GM keys that look identical to the originals. Fit and finish is great. Highly recommended.

.... and I didn't know, but I figured it out. I'm no mechanic, but I'm relatively good at figuring stuff out. Luckily I knew someone that had the right tools. I did some research online and was able to dissemble the steering wheel, remove the old lock cylinder and correctly install the new one. After reassembling the steering wheel, I stuck the key in, turned it and....... success! Great price, as well.

Fit a 1994 GMC 2 ton truck. Works well. For this truck the Amazon recommended pressure relief tool for the snap ring was not the correct one. It needed to be the narrow one, like what is available with the Lisle 57340.

So the Ignition looks good it looks as close to factory as you can get however the only 2 little issues I have are the fact the GMP has the tiniest hole and is not an oval like GM factory keys did. The second issue i found is that the lock cylinder is not smooth like one would expect from a new ignition switch. Mine went in a fully rebuilt 1980 Chevrolet Corvette
