an entertaining and action-packed story with a very potent love triangle happening
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 4 starsThese Hollow Vows is a story about Brie, who hates the Fae and doesn’t want anything to do with them. When her sister is bought by the Unseelie king, she has no choice to pay the dept to get her back.“No matter how hopeless I feel, there’s always a little more hope inside me.”Another book from my mile long TBR that really needs to be shortened… I decided to listen to the audiobook, which was a good choice haha. I really liked the voice actress and the way the story was portrayed! From the very beginning, the only thing I could think about was how closely this book reminded me of Cinderella! Working for family with two cousins and their mother. I didn’t see that it was a Cinderella inspired tale, but believe me when it is really similar!I liked the world, but had a hard time distinguishing the Seelie and Unseelie court. I don’t know if I just missed a bit while listening or if the courts truly are that similar and the only thing is that the Fae themselves are a bit different. The magic also seemed quite raw and with lots of potential. (view spoiler)I hit a bit of a slump while listening to the story until about 85% in. This can mainly be contributed to the HEAVY love triangle that is happening. I will stand by my point regarding love triangles, I am just not a fan. The constant back and forth between potential lovers just seems as if she can’t make up her mind. Since the love triangle is so heavenly present, it made me a bit-tired listening.Another thing is that there is SO MUCH miscommunication and betrayals happening… So much information is being kept, especially from Brie herself. So much angst happens because of this! Like damn, just tell her already haha.Brie is a likable character that has a nice development throughout the story. Prince Ronan is depicted as the good boy, while Finn is sort of the bad boy in the story. They are very different from each other, which I liked. The other cast of characters is also very entertaining and I really liked them!I said the slump disappeared after about 85% of the book and that is mainly because from that moment on all the twists and reveals are happening! I thought I had predicted where this story was going, but oh boy how wrong I was hahahha. It really makes me want to buy the sequel and continue on reading! (but first we’ll tackle that TBR…)Overall, it is an entertaining and action-packed story with a very potent love triangle happening.

Fun fantasy romance
This was a fun and quick read, with lots of romance and fantasy.Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy this book and I intend to read the sequel; it just didn't excite me. I can't really put my finger on it, it didn't thrill me like other fantasy romance novels have. I don't know if it's simply a bit of deflation from reading the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and the Throne of Glass series (I'm currently reading the latter).I definitely liked it, I read it pretty quickly and couldn't put it down. I just, don't know that I rush back to re-read it.I like the cast of characters, and I like the backstories of the main characters (especially Brie and Sebastian); they were interesting and likeable. I mean, the story regarding her Mum was interesting but very predictable. I could see it coming from a mile away. I'm hoping that some of the secondary characters get a bit more development, as well as the story surrounding her parents. The explanation felt a little bit rushed, and we know nothing of her Father and his connection to the whole mess.I also feel like Brie's power hasn't been explained very well. She just, has a power? I don't really understand it. There also wasn't any explanation about where it comes from; does her sister have it? Her Mum? It all just felt a little bit rushed.I also liked the romance element and that Brie is torn between two guys (I mean, who wouldn't be?) I'm definitely excited to see where the story goes with both relationships, and which guy Brie will choose (I could guess, and I could also decide who I would pick!).The ending was very good, and has definitely left me wanting to read the next one ASAP.I just can't shake the feeling that the book was missing something to really excite me. All that being said, I did enjoy it. It was a nice and light fantasy romance and I definitely want to read the next one for the conclusion of the story.

Best thing I've read this year
I loved this book, the world itself is written so well that I was able to put myself into the story, the romance had me page turning through the night and all the characters had been really well thought out and portrayed. Had to order and read the second book straight away.

Could not put down!
These Hollow Vows - Lexi Ryan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- Minor SpoilersSo I’ve taken a few days to gather my thoughts on this, and they haven’t changed from my initial rating, 5 BIG FAT STARS!!💫 I absolutely devoured this book and couldn’t get enough.I loved Brie’s character, the love she has for her sister is so relatable. She would give everything for her sisters safety, regardless of who she hurts in the process. Odd right? Our MC isn’t a people pleaser who would do anything for the man she loved! The love triangle here isn’t your typical ‘pick me pick me!’ It’s full of betrayal and doing what you believe is right, they all have their own agendas that are woven into each other’s storylines to perfection. Now our main men… Finn my dear, I love you. Sebastian, I can’t wait for you to be on the receiving end of Brie’s wrath in book 2😈 I liked you for maybe 3 chapters, but after what you did?! That ending?! I hope you suffer😘Even though we are left on a cliffhanger, I’m not mad about it. It’s left me eager to get my hands on the next instalment, but I’m so happy with the direction it’s heading.Overall, I thoroughly recommend this book!
