Reborn: The Jade Phoenix Saga, Book 1

From crippled to powerful the MC survives and even thrives against tremendous adversity. She withstands bullying, beasts, the corrupted, power plays within and externsl to her clan, assassins and even mighty ancestral beasts. She suffers greatly in her cultivation quest, choosing to take the hardest road, but the one with the most potential. At the same time, she learns how to learn not just what is apparent on the surface, but parses the hidden plots, plans and dangers that surround her.Once again, this was an exceptional story. It is well written with excellent world building, interesting characters and lots of drama both interpersonal and political. I especially loved the ongoing martial and cultivation training required to grow, as well as that the status screens reflect growth, but are not used as a cheat to facillate unrealistic growth by assigning points into stats. I am eagerly looking forward to reading the next installment as well as search for other works by DI Freed.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters are interesting and engaging. The MC is realistic and makes me want to root for her along her path to strength. It has political maneuvers going on in the shadows from an extremely powerful "evil empress type" of cultivator. The MC is very likeable, and she is I think an all-round nice person. There is humor in the story as well as some terrible subjects that happen in the first part of the book to the MC. It is a story that is well written to the point of being an image in my mind and the words fade as I read and I am looking forward to more from this author.

The main character is interesting and seem smart. Few issues I have is her obsession with her clan. As far as it was portrayed, it felt more like she place all her loyalty of a abuse cult. I just fine if that she seem to loyal to a group of people that tortured her. Even her love for say her father seem force. I think it would have been more natural if she felt nothing for him. He is an abusive parent that seem to be fine with pimping and using his daughter for his own means. He also seem to be spineless for a clan head. I mean he new there was a cancer in his clan and he still let it live and thrive.

I did not expect to like this book as well as I did. I am a picky reader. It takes a lot to keep me involved with a story. I am highly glad I decided to give this book a chance. Well worth reading. This book is a lot different from most LitRPG books. Very good story, characters are involving. It kept me guessing and wanting to read what next takes place. It also is wrote in a way that you don't want to read it all at once. Which I like because real life needs to be addressed. Several things happen in this book that when you get done you feel like you read a series of books instead of just one. Looking forward to the next book as the story continues. I hope the author keeps the same style of writing in the next book too. Truly an unique read.

The parts with secret or known people plotting against a child were confusing at times, but did play well into the story. I am not sure that I'm happy or okay with Yu's acceptance of past treatment. If a person can ignore something that horrid, or actually be an abuser then I'd personally (as the child) have blown them all off. Made me like Grandma more than the other characters. I'm curious about the powerful beasts, and it's amusing that Yu keeps essentially befriending them. Enjoyable, and I'm not sure what to think of the cousins.

This is an interesting approach to cultivation. I liked the tough, determined and sickly main character. She makes discoveries and friends out of the oddest circumstances and keeps things exciting. It was an easy read. I never put it down until the last page. Can't wait for the next book.

I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the MC. I found her very relatable. I loved her family members. It was well written. I am not a gamer but the cultivation was interesting although I didn't always understand her stats? I am thinking we will learn more as the series progresses. I cannot wait for the next book and hope it comes quickly though I doubt because of the way these authors jump from series to series. Whatever happened to finishing the job. It seems to me if you are a good writer you would not have to play these marketing games with your readership.

Such a joyful, addictive read with great characters and a wonderfully built world.A new Feist or Eddings has arrived!

I chose the 5 star rating for this book because it kept me absorbed in its pages. I had a couple of sleepless nights because of it. Pick this book up if you want to sleep very little and ENJOY a great litrpg story. Just enough litrpg to not be overwhelming you with status pages every chapter.

Reborn: Jade Phoenix is a great, solid addition to the cultivation genre. It has compelling storytelling, the world and cultivation system is well developed and explained and the characters are beautifully created- with many side characters being able to leave lasting impression on the reader.I find the story of Yu, rising from cripple to genius very compelling and recommend it to others who like the genre

I'm always happy to find good fantasy novel with a woman that is not a thirst trap or an excuse for the author to live out his fantasiesI look forward to the rest of this series!

Ich habe das Buch jetzt dreimal gelesen und immer noch keine Fortsetzung in Sicht. Grmph. Die MC ist rundum gelungen und liebenswert, der Plot von Anfang an unterhaltsam und fesselnd. Die Protagonisten erhalten alle Aufmerksamkeit und Entwicklungsfreiraum - und es gibt Tiger! Wahrscheinlich werde ich es in Erwartung einer Fortsetzung noch dreimal lesen und mich dann doch frustriert anderen LitRPG-Serien zuwenden müssen :-( Bitte sehr bald mehr - viel mehr!

Quite a gripping story and good pacing. Love the mysterious aura and the mentions of fate and whatnot throughout the novel. Spatial affinity is my fav affinity in every novel I've ever read as i think it's literally the coolest
