RECOMMENDED!!
So! I used to have a high/medium cervix! I think that may have been due to the fact that I had heavy periods and have PCOS, which had caused it. About three months ago, I got myself an IUD because I was sick and tired of period blood and I noticed a couple things since the moment I had it! :DEver since IUD- I am now actually able to TOUCH my cervix with my FINGER, since it’s lower, AND less blood! (I’m on Mirena so I’m waiting till 6 months to finally pass for no blood at all), but while I wait, it was driving me nuts that despite the faint spotting, I always hated the feeling of pads, and also the feeling of blood coming out of me 😭. Before my IUD, I went for LARGE menstrual cups and LARGE discs, because I had a high cervix, AND, my periods were heavy, and it saved me from pads!!I didn’t want to use my small cup (I had two for when the period was ending, and the other (large) for heavy) while on my IUD in case it would come out due to its suction. SO, I used my large disc instead! Before, when I had my high cervix, I couldn’t feel anything and it stayed in place! Now with an IUD and I tried the large disc, it felt uncomfortable and i could FEEL IT 😭.With this small disc, OH. my. GOD. life saver for me. I don’t have to worry about pads again while waiting for my IUD to be in full affect and having to feel blood leak out of you. (Again… I hate the feeling, both pads and .. blood lol, hence why I use cups/discs etc, but now just this current disc!)PLEASE invest in this! It is a ONE TIME PURCHASE, and while it’s expensive at the first thought of it, it will actually save you money in the long run from buying tampons/pads! PLUS, it’s super comfortable!!! Honestly these are probably a better cup version than the other cup I own regardless cause it had a curve 🤨, (BUT DIDN’T LEAK, ONLY WHEN USE OF BATHROOM).But yeah!!! For all you IUD users out there, and you noticed that your big cups/discs won’t fit anymore and they poke you, and so you, also, don’t have to suffer with pads again.. I would 100% recommend it. I was definitely happy and shocked by how SMALL it is compared to my large disc!(I usually don’t type up reviews like this but this was NEEDED to be said, thank you!)

Never going back to tampons and pads.
I tried menstrual cups in the past, but stopped using them as I felt the suction put pressure on my bladder and caused discomfort. The disc causes no discomfort whatsoever. I bought it on a whim as I was about to start my period and ran out of tampons/pads, so I thought I’d give it a shot and so happy I did.Note: if you have a light to regular period (change tampons every 6 hours or so) I’d get the smaller, coral colored disc. Even if you’re a beginner, this one fit me nicely and I was debating between sizes.Reusable discs/cups are a concept that you must be okay with getting familiar with your body as well as getting messy. But you should only have to change it at home, I recommend doing it in the shower to easy cleanup. I never once had anxiety that it would get “lost” or I couldn’t get the disc out. Using the notch is really helpful, along with “bearing down” when removing. Comes out perfectly fine. As for inserting, it’s about the same length and width of a tampon when you fold it hot dog style, so no issues there for me either.Overall, so glad I bought this and will be recommending to friends who may have tried the cup in the past but didn’t work for them like myself. If you’re on the edge, I’d say it’s worth trying. Everyone and every body is different so the only way to know if it works for you is to try it yourself.

GREAT if you have a hypertonic pelvic floor/pelvic floor hypertonicity
The Saalt disc has been an absolute game changer for me. I have a hypertonic pelvic floor (increased muscle tone of the pelvic floor muscles). I’ve done physical therapy for it several times but it is just a chronic issue for me. Because of the increased muscle tone, I’m unable to use tampons because they cause a lot of pain. I also get chronic BV (bacterial vaginosis) and tampons are a huge culprit for me. I HATE wearing pads, so period underwear was my solution for a long time. They’re a great option and I still use them off and on. I just personally wanted to try to find something that could contain the blood IN my body, like a tampon. I heard about menstrual cups and discs and wanted to give them a shot.Cup vs DiscI tried the cup first as it seemed the easiest to use. For me personally, it didn’t matter the size (S,M,L) of the cup, it was just too big. I could constantly feel it, and because of my HPF it caused pain. I researched and most women say they can’t feel it at all, and that the little “tail” that hangs out like a tampon string should not be felt. Because of my increased muscle tone, things are a bit…tight…down there, and I could feel the tail of cup.Next I tried the disc. I was pretty intimidated since there isn’t any kind of tail to gel pull out the disc once it is inserted. I didn’t understand how I’d be able to find it! Being honest, the first couple times you just have to get REAL personal with yourself. The Saalt disc came with instructions and there were some instructional videos that I found in their website as well, and I just tried to mess around with it and see what works best. For me, inserting it while sitting on the toilet works best. I just fold it in half and make sure the finger notch is at the front, and Insert it until I can feel it behind my pubic bone. If it’s where it’s supposed to be I don’t feel it at all! When it’s time to remove it I just slide my finger up to where I can find the notch, bear down like I’m trying to poop, and that causes the muscles to push it forward to where I can hook my finger in the notch and remove it. It’s honestly really easy once you get used to it.Since using the Saalt Disc I have so much more confidence around my time of the month. I use the pink disc, which is the small one, because I have not had children. It seems to be the perfect fit for me. I’ve never had any leaks. I have even put it to the test and used it while having sex, and STILL no leaks! Certain positions were uncomfortable with it in, but effective communication with my partner made it to where we could both enjoy the process. The disc is easy to clean, compact, and I’ve been using the same one for over a year now. I’m about to replace it just because I feel like it’s time.I’ve been using the Saalt disc/cup wash that you can purchase, and I’ve had very good luck with it. Since I’m replacing my old disc though, I’m going to try out the Saalt cup steam sterilizer and see how I like it!Long story short, if you have any of the same health issues that I do, OR if you want to try it for mess free period sex, I highly recommend the Saalt Disc. It’s been a game changer in my life and in my relationship.
