I am enjoying This mixer allot
So far so good. The sides are made of plastic which is a bit strange to me but its still great quality. I went from a Rane 56s to this. And I am in love. Pioneer mixers rock man! The effects work with vinyl as well as mp3's. Super cool stuff. I love the Red color. Highly recommend this mixer to anyone. Also if you wondering If you should buy this over a more expensive mixer get this. I swear Its got things no other mixer has as of now.

Best Bang for your Buck Serato DJ Mixer
I use this in my project studio. It's packed with features some i'll never use like the scratch feature for example. The DJM-S5 comes with Serato DJ Pro FX & good pads that allow quick access to 8 cue points using shift even with 4 pads per side. As a battle mixer it has everything you'll need. It's not a Rane Seventy but it's half the price & even has a couple things i like better the browse/load section is one. I have a set of Custom Technics with a Rane 70 at my label studio. But the DJM-S5 is perfect for a Project studio or any DJ who needs most options without the price. And it has a lot for the money. I do almost all my Beat Making work at home then i mix & track vocals with the various artists i produce at my main studio in the Bronx. I have the DJM-S5 set up with another pair of Technics to lay cuts on various beats or practice sets for when i go on tour. I use Sound Forge Pro to build Battle Records that sound dope in Serato. The sound quality is good on the S5. I use a pair of Ortofon Scratch MK2s in my project studio. I also Shure M44-7s too at my label studio but the Scratch MK2s are great M44-7 alternatives. The Ortofons stick like glue & sound great on Vinyl for Sampling & with Serato. If your looking for a Mid-Level Serato Battle Mixer that's plug & play with Serato DJ Pro for under $1000 it doesn't get better than the Pioneer DJM-S5.Sound Quality, Plug & Play, Features, Layout, Crossfader & Buttons all good. People saying buy a used S7 haven't used this. The mixer is powered a USB-C to USB-A cable & has an 2nd USB-C port for standalone operation. Initially I wasn't a fan of a mixer without an AC/DC Barrel adapter but it's all good. I would have kept this if it wasn't. Final thoughts i think the layout & button positioning are perfect. The DJM-S5 is a great DJ Mixer with more than enough tools. The only thing that could be improved are the up faders. The up faders on my Rane are better, that's not even up for debate. Still it's an incredible mixer, you'll see!

I love this mixer.
Important to know, it does not have a dedicated power supply, it is powered by the laptop. An aftermarket power supply is required.

Finally got it
So if you have a mixer with a innofader in it such as a AMX Akai something under $400 let me tell you there is a big difference in latency, sound the clarity in the cuts to be honest using equipment not made for advance manipulation you will be holding yourself back just save up and get this don't try to upgrade a fader on the 300 mixer trust me you will be left desiring more
