Tig Welding Secrets: An In-Depth Look At Making Aesthetically Pleasing TIG Welds

No-nonsense Info
Gotta say it. This welder is a welder and not an English major. The grammar would make my poor mother spin in her grave. But that’s OK! Because this is about welding. And the info in this little book is on point. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a newbie welder. Less than two month in. I’ve even taken some classes. But I still worry that I’m not improving. Just reading this book helped me let go of some of the anxiety I carry regarding welding. “You’re gonna screw it up. It’s ok. Keep it up and eventually when you screw it up, you’ll be able to fix it.” That’s what I took away from the book. The author gives solutions to common problems. Overall, a very approachable read and one I’m glad I picked up. It allowed me to take a deep breath, put this stuff into perspective and come back at it with a little more confidence and enjoyment.

Great TIG welding tips
The book was shorter that I would have hoped. However, it contained a number of useful tips. I will refer back to the book from time to time. Weld on!

Three Stars
Meh at best, a few insightful tips, mostly basic beginner stuff.

Straight up KNOWLEDGE
It becomes apparent almost immediately that the author of this book is a professional welder first, and a writer second. I prefer this over a book written by someone who never picked up a TIG torch before. It is not a perfectly written book and I would have liked some photos to aid in compression like other reviewers mentioned. With that said, the general concepts described in this book helped me improve my TIG welding drastically. I was so pumped to getting some "burn time" after reading. I was definitely making mistakes with my pedal control and tungstens. My welds were getting undercut and I didnt know why. This book lays down years worth of knowledge in black and white. It is a fast read, straight to the point. I would gladely pay for this book again. If you are learning to TIG weld and need a little help to get your welds perfect, this book is a must read. It is not start-to-finish book on "Learning How To TIG Weld For The First Time" The book is call "TIG Welding SECRETS". I think the author did a fantastic job laying out his secrets of the trade with real world experiences that you cannot make up.

Good fast reference
Good quick read with many good suggestions for general tig welding. Would like to see some pictures or diagrams of tig torch and equipment when describing operation but written descriptions were adequate.

great pamphlet on TIG welding
This is the best little book on TIG welding I've found so far. I use it to remind me where I am, I'm getting old. I used it just yesterday when I needed to switch from steel to aluminum. It reminded me straightaway, I didn't have to hunt for a complete picture.

Not your usual technical welding manual
Not your usual technical welding book. Shawn shares his knowledge and opinions gained from years of experience Tig welding, in effect saying - “I’ve found this works for me, give it a try”. He doesn’t say there is only one way to do something, just things he’s found successful over the years by trial and error. It’s a chatty sort of book, sprinkled with personal stories of his welding experiences. I think that even a welder who had studied at a technical college would get valuable things out of this book that weren’t taught in college.

No images
It is without any images and does not help much. A good section on how to weld frames and the importance of keeping everything clean.

Disappointed.
I returned it because apart from the cover it appeared to be the same as the one I bought last year.
