Great tool for biblical counseling
Stands on the truth that the Bible has all we need to counsel life’s problems. Would recommend this to anyone who want to apply biblical truth to the tough issues.

Jay Adams' books are very helpful
The book was good. God is good (Matthew 19:17). He sent Jesus to die for lost sinners that they might be saved (John 3:16). Sinners are finally saved when they (a) believe in Jesus as the Son of God (John 3:16); (b) repent of their sins (Acts 2:38); (c) confess their faith in Christ with their mouths (Romans 10:10); and (d) are baptized "for the remission (removal) of their sins" (Acts 2:38).

The Sufficiency of the Scriptures
Adams always is a delight to read. While Adams is not perfect he is passionate about the right things and hits the nail on the head on almost every issue. He blazed the trail for modern noutetic counseling. Those who have expressed problems with this book do not have the high view of Scripture that Adams holds and do not understand the depravity of man as the Bible teaches. They also do not understand how the presuppostions of psychology are anti-Christian and they do not bring glory to God. This is a very practical book that is a good read for all Christians who seek to restore their bretheren (Gal. 6)

What a great tome!
Can't go wrong with Dr. Adams. I've wanted this book for years. My wife is taking a counseling course through BCC and this was on her recommended reading list. Outstanding material here. Part 2 of Adams' Competant to Counsel. Highly recommend this book!I cannot wait to see what the Lord does in and through my wife when she completes her counseling training! She already uses her gifts in countless ways and I'm excited to see how this blossoms into even more encouragement for many others!

Excellent
Extremely helpful, convicting, and insightful— this book is a great start to achieving a basic knowledge of how to biblically counsel, after “Competent to Counsel’s” what is biblical counseling. It is old, and could use some updates for sure, but it is very well written and almost entirely applicable to the modern context.

Easy to read, practical and biblical
Every Christian will benefit from reading this book. We are all called to make desciples, and to build each other up, to help carry another's burden. This book will not only help you to practically apply the Word of God to your own life, but it will help you to know how to help others. It is a book that you will want to read over and over again.
