True to it's words
This was recommended to me by a copywriting course and I now see why. While I'm still getting my bearings in this craft, this book provided some vivid examples to help me understand the concepts I've heard about through other sources.

Who Else Wants To Write Better Copy (In About 2 Hours)
This book showed up in my mailbox last month. At first, I thought the title and cover art were too crass.I couldn't benefit from something that was that crass was going to be any good. Then I read it. I had a sales page to write and thought this might help.Man. It's structure. Emotion. All of the things I wanted.I've followed the advice. I'll report back with how it worked soon (and maybe upgrade this to 5 stars).

5 Stars, well deserved...
I have books on the art of copywriting from just about everyone who matters, and Breakthrough Copywriting is one of my favorite books on the topic. David Garfinkel is often referred to as 'the world's best copywriting coach,' and for a while I wondered if this was a just a persona that he'd created for himself. But after reading this book I'm perfectly happy to concede to him this title.David has a unique ability to express his wisdom and experience with simplicity and clarity. As the former President of a teacher's association, I can say with confidence that David has all of the hallmarks of a great teacher. But as a professional copywriter, I can also say with confidence that David really 'knows his stuff,' because it's evident right here in his book. There are tons of expensive courses on this topic, but few of them will give you more actionable information than you'll get in these pages for less than ten bucks.

If you ant to climb the ranks as a copywriter this is a must read
I bought David's book on headlines. Then a few months later while I was listening to a few of his podcast episodes I heard him talk about this book. And man oh man is there a wealth of knowledge in this book. This is mandatory reading for anyone who calls them self a copywriter. Definitely gunna read this book at least 10 times

Most valuable book for me at least
For me, this is the most valuable book on copywriting I have. Let me explain. I've been through Garfinkel's programs like Fast Effective Copy, High Speed Copywriting, Copywriting Templates, and some one on one coaching sessions. I lost touch with David maybe 5 years ago? Something like that. So this book is a reminder of all I've learned from him and I think I just wrote the most emotionally hard hitting sales page of my life that I'm feeling confident will make at least six figures in sales all by itself. Thanks, David. --Jason Parker

Great book but with too many up-sells
Let me first state that this book is legitimate and the author has lots of good advice for the novice copywriter. If someone were to ask me if I would recommend this book to them I would say yes. However....I got the feeling sometimes that the author was just trying to up-sell you on his other copywriting courses and coaching services. For instance in chapter 5 the author says: "The solution to quickly writing effective headlines even when you don't have extensive experience is with Copywriting Templates™." and then he provides a link to a $29.95 course (the course ships with physical DVDs... I haven't owned a PC with a CD drive in 6 years!). David also links the reader to another course of his that costs nearly $500!Things like that rub me the wrong way.David goes over all the elements in writing effective copy but does not tie them all together with finished examples, just bits and pieces. I would have loved to see an example of an actual ad he ran for a client, in its entirety. I believe this book would be a total GRAND SLAM if he included his "Copywriting Templates™".Overall this is a good book and worth the purchase if you are a copywriting newbie but be aware of the up-sells sprinkled about.

It IS a Breakthrough.
Insightful only begins to explain how I felt after reading this book. Its like I wasn’t reading it—it was speaking to me.Every time I had a question pop up, an answer or explain action shortly followed as if David Garfunkel knew what I was thinking and directly responded.Going into this book, I knew very little about copywriting but now I feel like I snuck away with a book of knowledge, a cheat sheet, a map that shows me the way to becoming a better copywriter.

The Easy Way to Master Copywriting
I’m a junior copywriter and social media specialist. I’ve learned so much from this book. And now comes the fun part: put it into practice. There are so many concepts in it that one should take this book as a studying device: taking notes and creating samples of copy.

The Best Copywriting Book I've Read
Most copywriting books?Duller than waiting around at an airport with no one to talk to other than the killjoys at passport control.Though lucky for you, I've found one that breaks the mould:"Breakthrough Copywriting"by David GarfinkelAnyway, what makes it different to most other books I've read?3 things.1- It's an easy readLet's face it...Some business books contain more waffle than you'd expect to find at an American diner. This one?Quite the opposite.David gets to the point right from the word go, so you're eagerly reading line to line, page to page, chapter to chapter without once getting bored.I finished it in just over a day.2- He uses stories to engage youStories entertain.Stories evoke emotion. And, as David explains in the book, stories sell.Anyway, he uses stories throughout "Breakthrough Copywriting" to really drive home each of the lessons he teaches. Not only does this make it more entertaining...It also means you retain more information. Why?Because, as David writes, "People learn through stories, usually better and more quickly than they learn through the presentation of facts."3- It won't overwhelm you (even if you're a 'copy virgin')Look:Most books on copywriting tend to overwhelm people.Especially 'newbie' writers who haven't written an ad or sales letter before. This one?Won't at all.Let me take you back a few years, to the first time I read "Breakthrough Advertising" by Eugene Schwartz. At the time, reading it made me feel like a little kid trying to work out algebra.(I was a personal trainer back then; way before I became a full time copywriter)Anyway, it wasn't until I started reading "The Gary Halbert Letter" that I really started to 'get' the whole copywriting process. And the reason was simple:Gary made things easy to understand. He focused more on the core fundamentals. And honestly? It's these core fundamentals that ultimately dictate how well your copy does; NOT the more fancy, "ninja" things. Now, don't get me wrong...The more "advanced" stuff has its place for seasoned copywriters. (Although I'd still argue, even then, that nailing the "basics" is far more important.)But for most people, it will just overwhelm them.Yet David's book is perfect for both 'copy virgins' AND seasoned pros alike. He focuses on the core fundamentals. He makes them easy to understand. He gives you rock solid examples. And he doesn't waste time on anything not vital to the copywriting process.Instead?Every sentence packs a punch.Every chapter worth its weight in gold. And the book as a whole? Is like having your own copy coach sitting on your shelf, ready to help you whenever you're writing a sales letter.PS- For the record, Breakthrough Advertising (not to be confused with David's "Breakthrough Copywriting") is an amazing book. But it only started making sense to me AFTER I'd already nailed the "basics".Which is why I wouldn't recommend it to someone just starting out.Just thought I'd clear that up, as don't want anyone thinking I'm bashing BA; it's a top class book in its own right.
