Kinda works
On the whole these mats work and this one seems to be fairly well made.I have one particular probleM with this mat and a general problem with all training mats. The particular problem is that this mat has a green light that flashes every few seconds when the mat is turned on. If the mat is near you while in use - especially at night - this can be very annoying and hard to disguise. Also, the animals learn to stay away when they see the light, and to return when they don’t. They aren’t stupid. My general problem with training mats of any sort is that the animals learn that the mat is the source of discomfort, and they will simply wait for you to remove it to return to the area. Be prepared to stay in this battle for the long haul. Get some extra batteries, because you will have to stick with the training for a long time to break the habit.I am currently alternating the use of the mat and the spray canisters to try and confuse them into thinking that my couch isn’t a safe area no matter what they think they see. We’ll see how it goes.

Works for dog w/separation anxiety to stop scratching my door.
It works. Got a young rescue dog which has serious separation anxiety. Every time I leave, even for a few minutes, she would bark & scratch my doors. Not good! Got this and put in front on my back door. She received couple of minor schocks which was enough to keep her back from door (but still barks). Noticed that mat did not work EVERY time she was on it BUT only one or two schocks is enough. It stopped her at front door simply because she could see & smell it so no schocks were even administered. Next job is to use on my kitchen counter because she “counter surfs”.

Highly Recommend! You won't regret this purchase
We used this to keep our cats from going under our daughters' bed because they were testing it TF up and running around like cats on catnip (they've had no catnip) and waking up the girls consistently. It got annoying! These things are not cheap but it's effective!I pulled it out of the box, threw in the battery, and put it under the edge of the bed to where the girls won't touch it but the cats have no other choice! Of course my curiosity set in and I had to test it out first, can't just assume it's working because the green light is on. So I decided it'd be a great idea to touch it! I smacked my elbow on the bottom of the bed after getting zapped with 9 volts and I decided never to do it again. Apparently the cats have also decided not to do it again, because they haven't been under that bed every since!Side note, I forgot it was there one night and put my toe on it while putting one of our sleeping girls in the bed. Got a quick reminder, that's for sure.Definitely recommend, it's worth the money! Use it for your couch when you're away from home or asleep at night to keep animals off it, or put it in front of a doorway of a room you don't want pets in. Not recommended to keep out in an open space if you have children though unless you like listening to them scream in what they think is agonizing pain even though it's not :P

It Works!!
We bought a new white couch and needed to keep the dog off. A friend uses mats like this one for the exact same purpose, so we thought we'd try it. All it took was 2-3 attempts jumping on the couch and our little pooch learned super fast it was NOT a fun place to be. We haven't even used it in over 1 month, and our dog doesn't go near the couch. Brilliant solution! Just remember it's there or you'll end up getting a little zap on your tush too!!

FINALLY!!!!!!
Yes, Yes, Yes. My dog kept peeing on the couch, located 2 feet away from the doggy door and 1 foot away from her peed pad. I bought two and placed them on the couch, it's a large couch. She has not peed on it since. Now she pees on the pad or outside. I love love love this product.

Teaches pets
This mat keeps my cats out of my roommates room. It provides a little shock if they step on it. I tested it myself and it doesn't hurt it just shocks them a little bit. It's very easy to install and took no time. It's very durable and my cats have learned not to go upstairs because they don't like the shock. It's easy to fold and move wherever you need it to be

Depends on how smart your dog is...
The media could not be loaded. This isn't a bad review for the product itself.. it actually gives a nice little static shock.. however I'm going to order one that is thicker because my Chihuahua jumped over it the very first time! Lol

Ouch
I touched by accident and it shocked the **** out of me. Wish it had a way to control the harshness of the shock. If you tried others that were not powerful enough, this should be the one for you.
