Hello dear customers, the cage wire mesh spacing for this caged pet drinker should preferably be more than 1.2 inches; if your cage wire mesh spacing is slightly smaller than 1.2 inches, you can bend the wire cage bar slightly. Successful installation.

Q: Soaks his bed?! Don't understand what's going on, but his dog bed has ended up soaked from the entire water container on three separate occasions.

My dog will sometimes drink a bunch of water and get it on the bed from dripping it everywhere or run into it and some of the bowl will spill. It hasn’t leaked though!

Q: Can you take out the holding part to fill it up? Rather than just pouring it in

For the water, yes, you have to remove the clear reservoir to fill it each time. For the food, technically yes you can, but I would not advise that as it makes quite a mess. The bottom of the clear feeder reservoir is open and would likely spill out when full and trying to finagle it back in.
