Worked like a charm!
I tried sanding my old one to see if that would be enough but the pilot light kept going out still. This generic/universal replacement works perfectly though

Galaxy Gas Fired Steam Boiler
My old Galaxy gas fired steam boiler pilot light would not hold after several attempts of relighting. Replaced thermocouple with this one and the pilot light worked on the first try.Very easy to get too with long screw & nut driver, just make sure you secure the gas valve! Watch some YouTube videos if needed.

Even a dummy like myself can replace this.
Our hot water stopped comming out and I thought the pilot light just needed to be lit back up but the light would only stay lit if I kept the gas button pressed, and once I let go of it, the light would turn back off. I looked online and it said it might be the Thermocouple that needs replacing.I went and bought this for $10 and saw a YouTube video that showed how to replace it, I got to work on it, and then we had hot water again. I am BY NO MEANS a handy man AT ALL (it took me 40 minutes to replace my windshield wipers the first time I did it and it is something that literally takes one minute to do when you know what you are doing. This is how bad I am at fixing things 🤦♂️) and this took me less than 15 minutes to do. I'm glad I found this universal piece at such a low price. I bet I would have been charged $100+ if I had a tech come in and do it.
