One of the best albums at the turn of the 21st century
As a fan of most of the similar music that came out around the same time (late 90's/early 00's: such as Mouse on Mars, and the like), this album, along with an obscure, experimental offering by the Korean "group" Byul [dot] org (from their "Monthly Vampire" magazine/music series in 2001), has etched itself into my mind as THE "artsy" electro music of the turn of the 21st century: darkly haunting and melancholic, yet bright and winsome in all the right places. It's a shifting bi-polar kaleidoscope to be sure, and it thoroughly succeeds as such; I am thrilled to finally get it on vinyl...It will sit as the right-hand bracket of an amazing decade of innovation in "ambient", "thinking-man's" electronica, that has Orbital's second eponymously titled album with The Orb's "Live 93" on the other.

trippy, meditative as well as kind of dark
This release is probably my favorite album by this group. It has a very spacey and honest feel to it. Even though this group is one of the more popular electronic acts out there i feel they are not commercial and just happen to fall into the slightly commercial category. If ever there was group that uses vocal samples the perfect way this is the ticket. \The use of trippy samples is a main contributing factor that lead to my favorable rating of this album.I recommend this release highly.

Perfect, beautiful
One of my absolute favorite editions of any album, 3 LPs fit nicely in a beautifully printed trifold with full color printed paper sleeves (Need to add your own liner though); etching on side C2 of the nuclear family. Only drawback I think is it could have fit on 2 discs, maybe there is a variation of this. Just feels I’m needing to tend to the record player more often, would just like to let it play like Music Has the Rights

Wow!
Of course I had heard the album many times before buying this vinyl. The album is a masterpiece. I didn't know this was reissued. I tried to buy it from discogs a while back and it was selling for hundreds of dollars. On amazon it was only 30 bucks. The record sounds like the music was meant to be played on a turntable. The Album art is amazing and beautiful, since it's a 3 record set there are many sleeves and pockets with beautiful art and pictures. The brand new album came with a code to download the mp3 tracks, if you didn't already get the digital version free with your purchase. The album also came with something unique: beautiful hexagon stickers with colored photographs the band's family took of them and their friends as kids.

Beautiful Darkness
Of all the electronic albums I've listened to, GEOGADDI is perhaps the darkest. It is the perfect companion to its predecessor, MUSIC HAS THE RIGHT TO CHILDREN, but it is more psychedelic and brooding, with its strange 5/4 rhythms, unconventional chord progressions, backward samples, and obscure vocals.Of the twenty-three tracks, only several stand out as truly excellent tracks. That being said, the other, shorter tracks are nonetheless very well done. The standout track on the album is the second track, "Music is Math", a dark, trippy, gorgeous bit of mastery. The second best track, perhaps, is "Alpha and Omega". Other top tracks include "Julie and Candy", "Sunshine Recorder", and "1969".Boards of Canada have always been know for the secretive and sometimes mystical aspects of their music. Some interesting tidbits:The last track of GEOGADDI contains no audible sound. The size of the disc data is 666 megabytes. The album is 66:06 minutes long. The album contains references to "a god with hooves" and "a god with horns".The number of tracks is twenty-three, a number commonly associated with mysticism and discordianism.

On par or better than Music Has the Right to Children!
I got the Special Edition CD because I like the band and will keep buying their CD's until they burn out or get involved with the RIAA. All the songs on this CD are superb, except for one. Track Four, Gyroscope, is AWFUL! It sounds like something an annoyed member of Radiohead would turn our in a night while drunk AND stoned! Well, this is out of 23 tracks, so I will not hold this against them, as most CD's have lots of bad songs.Without reservation, I would recommend this CD to anyone. It is quirky in the Boards of Canada way and a joy to listen to. Yes, lots of kiddie voices, and actual (or made up) "science video" narrations in a few of the songs. Hey, I am not old, but listening to this album is an emotional journey back to my elementary school days, and I AM NOT a sentimental person in any way, shape, or form.Buy it; these guys need the money a whole lot more than U2 or N'Sync! It is a great CD to make some noise with. Got a subwoofer? GOOD, you'll want one!I am glad BOC was not a one album wonder, if they can improve on THIS album, we are all in for a treat! If you are reading this review, you are probably the sort of person who likes this sort of music and you should be ordering, listen, don't read!ENJOY!!!

I like Boards of Canada
I like Boards of Canada. I was introduced to the group in Seattle where a visiting dj from Portland was picking up vinyl at Beats Int'l. This was late spring of 2000, and Music Has the Right to Children was the most current of their albums, and this guy helped me pick out a few items. I told him I really enjoyed "the K&D Sessions" and he just kind of fingered a few different things this being one of them.As it was told to me, the artists are brothers who grew up in Canada, then later moved to Scotland, and their music consists of sampled, treated "sound boards" from old Canadian nature programming.Their music slowly grew on me over time to the point where I think it is all great. Music Has the Right... used to be my favorite of their three current, main albums, but I revised that notion to identify Geogaddi as probably their strongest statement. But I would give each of these albums five stars. The music is brooding, moody, and profound, almost exclusively without words. Richly layered sonic shapes of nalstagic coloring.Highly recommended.

Yet another classic from BoC
A classic boards of Canada album, you may recognise a few of the tracks from films and adverts. Album art is also nice and includes the out of focus intriguing photos we have come to expect from BoC
