A great multimeter with everything you need at a great price! Safe, durable, solid.
I haven't had much time to play with it, but I've always needed a multimeter at random times. I watched a video on youtube about how to pick a good multimeter, and I chose this one for several reasons. It has ceramic fuses instead of glass, which was said to be safer, and they are compartmentalized separate from battery area. Batteries and fuses are easy to get to if they need be replaced. The switch is smooth and has that nifty safety covers so if I'm checking voltage I don't accidentally plug into the current input. The display is big, easy to read and has a backlight. Temperature sensor and other things you can check are a nifty addition. The case feels sturdy and solid, stands up well without tipping. All in all, it has everything I need for general purposes or even some extra situations, works great, and doesn't have that huge Fluke price tag. I think I actually enjoy this much more.

Included battery measured 9.38 volts but not enough current to run meter.
Meter would not turn on with supplied battery but would just pulse the display and buzzer. Measured the battery voltage with another meter and it measured 9.38 volts. I installed a new battery and it worked. I'm guessing it didn't have enough current capacity.

Innovative features. Auto Backlight not timer driven, stays on until meter is shut off or enough ambient light.
I like it. Backlight is not as bright as 760 but it fades on and off with ambient light and totally off with unit timeout (several minutes). That's even better than the Fluke which times out after a minute or two.Dual AA bat (included in bat compartment, wrapped) is better than 9V.Probe cover mech can miss a catch if turned too hard but can be forced back into sync with a jarring snap (or you can open up the back, loosen the 4 screws around it by 3/4 turn and it will re-align with a small click by the knob twist). Put blackout tape over the light eye (center top) will make the backlit come on quicker. Seem accurate.

Great features
Great meter with many high end features. Especially like the auto lighted display. After a month of use, I have reduced the rating by one star. Reason - the carrying case zipper disintergated after about 10 uses. Carrying case is very poor quality. Also, you need to be careful not to leave the leads inserted when switching scales. If you do, the clever little mechanism they use to cover the lead sockets (that should not be used for a function) will jump its track, and you will be faced with the task of opening the meter to put it back together. If you have to take it apart, be careful not to lose the spring and ball detent mechanisms on the switch.Overall, I still like the meter. All its functions work beautifully. Just disappointed in the poor quality case.

Intermittent operation. No warranty backing.
TL;DR: Intermittent operation. No warranty backing.Bought the meter in Nov'15, based on good reviews. For the first few months I only used the voltmeter. Then the temperature probe while checking radiator thermostat operation. Nice feature. Enjoyed the large display, backlight, hold feature. A few months later, I needed to use the resistance feature ("ohm meter"). Erratic behavior. Tried lots of troubleshooting: different test leads, burnish the big rotary function switch by repeated rotation, push/pull test lead connections, bypass the test leads by inserting wire/resistor directly into the test lead ports. Nothing "cleared" the problem. Sometimes it would work properly (0.L for an open circuit; near "zero" when test leads were shorted together; sensible numbers for "real" resistors). So, somewhere, inside, the meter knows how to do its job. But most often it was just crazy: random resistance readings; 0.L when leads were shorted; 0.0 when the test leads were unplugged. Just useless.I contacted HoldPeak by email in Jul’16 (8 months after purchase, warranty is 12 months). They responded with a “form letter”, asking for further information (Amazon order number). I responded in Sep’16 with the requested info (that 2.5 month delay is on me; I used a backup email address which I infrequently check, so their response went unnoticed for several weeks). Never heard back from them. Tried to get their attention several times before the 12 month warranty period expired. Nothing. Crickets. So, out of all those nifty functions the meter is supposed to offer, about half of them don’t work (freq, duty cycle, capacitance, are also flakey). I think it’s something wrong with the bottom of the meter, where the probes connect. It was never dropped/abused. But over time the mechanical operation became balky. They have an overly complex system of mechanical “shutters” that try to block off certain ports, depending on the function chosen by the rotary switch (you can see the yellow plastic shutters blocking off two of the ports in the Amazon product pictures). So there is a rickety—and unnecessary, IMHO—mechanical connection between the middle of the unit and the bottom. I’ve noticed that if I gently twist/torque the meter on diagonal corners, the shutters sieze and the ohm-meter behavior goes wonky. My unit might have a bad solder joint or broken circuit board and/or connector in the bottom. Probably the electronics/display are fine.Anyway, long story short. HoldPeak stiffed me on the warranty.[BTW, I’ve bought hundreds of items on Amazon, returned a few, but never wrote a review, positive or negative, until now. It’s the peek-a-boo warranty response of the manufacturer that galls me. Stay away. There are a lot of other meters available from equivalent Chinese distributors. Kind of a crap shoot. I thought I'd found a good one...but no. YMMV.]

Very useful multimeter
Meter is really convenient. I like the backlight. I wisht th backlight weren't automatic; I'd like to be able to turn it on by myself.I wasn't sure I'd like the safety feature of covers that prevent you from plugging in the leads incorrectly. I'm still not sure I like it, because it means you often have to remove the leads before changing ranges or turning off the meter. But it does prevent a mistake from damaging the meter.I like the included case; it lets me store everything neatly. All in all, I'm glad a bought it.

it appears to be well made and it is easily suitable for home use
Delivered on time. I purchased the unit for diy use, it appears to be well made and it is easily suitable for home use, it will do a lot more than I need, is easy to operate and gives the same results as my AVO meter.

All better now...
***UPDATE***Having returned the item I was contacted by the manufacturer, very helpful and courteous, offered a replacement, which arrived promptly, and this time all works as expected. I have compared the measurements with a calibrated Kewtech multimeter, both results were within 0.2% of each other.4 stars given as the build quality could be a touch better. I struggled to close the battery compartment.*****************The multimeter seems to be well made, well packaged, and full of useful functionality, however...when it arrived the centre dial did not select the required functions correctly unless a gentle pressure was applied to its centre. Wanted a replacement as I like this particular bit of kit, however for some reason Amazon has not offered an option to replace, just to return. Will probably try again once I receive the refund.

This is a good multimeter for the price
This is a good multimeter for the price. It performs well in basic measurements when I compare it to my fluke.

Large easy to read value for money multimeter plus
Absolutely superb. Large easy to read value for money multimeter plus. Uses sensible low cost batteries and has many functions only found on more expensive items. I would recommend this as a general purpose piece of test equipment.Al
