and I thoroughly enjoyed this book
Dr. Salinas's experiences were fascinating to read about, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I appreciate the author sharing his story with the world. I especially was drawn to the discussions on empathy and will take much of what was brought up here as food for thought as I go about my daily life.

Loved this book!
A fascinating memoir of a young man with very special gifts including writing. This is a personal and intimate account of Dr. Salinas' life and inner life of having synesthesia. It also teaches us about the neuroscience underpinnings of his world and patients he saw. I related some to the synesthesia and this helped me make just a bit more sense out my own life.

A compelling and thoughtful piece
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dr. Salinas' book "Mirror Touch," which combines autobiography, engaging interviews, and neurobehavioral analysis to discuss mirror-touch synesthesia, guided by the author's own experiences. The narrative is shaped in part by events in the author's life, including personal relationships and pivotal experiences in medical training. In addition to providing a cerebral perspective (no pun intended) on mirror-touch synesthesia and related conditions, the book thoughtfully provides insight into the nature of empathy itself. I continue to recommend this fantastic book to patients and colleagues and look forward to Dr. Salinas' future contributions to neuroscience and literature.

LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!
I loved this book! It was an introspective and honest story of someone that lives and thrives with a brain that is so different and presents so many challenges everyday. It was beautifully written and captured the struggles at each stage of the author's life. Growing up is difficult but growing up different and looking for your place is even harder. I was rooting for the author the entire book. I find it a must read for anyone with someone with a different brain or a friend with a different brain to get the inside look and help develop compassion for everyone.

Heart touching!
Loved the book. I felt like I was a spectator throughout. The most striking to me is that it's not a fiction, but a piece of reality. The candidness of Joel Salinas is commendable. At such a young age Salinas has endured so much. The pain, the emotion, the lesson and the positivity! Each emotion has been described so beautifully. The climax is as profound as the beginning. A must read!

Boring
So so boring. Talking about himself in great detail. I quit reading and donated it. He was far more interesting when I saw him interviewed on TV.

Interesting
A fascinating life, full of amazing experiences. However, far too much clinical information about patients and their conditions, which were unnecessary. I wanted to learn about the authors life not his patients. But still interesting none the less.

unbearable
unbelievably boring sequence of trivia, endlessly elongated.if you want to get an idea about synesthesia or mirror touch, or how a person is living with it, look somewhere else.
