Bore Stores P-1 Silicone Treated Gun Storage Case, Grey

OK - I admit it. I bought these because they were less expensive. But wow they exceed my expectations. I bought a few different sizes for both large ad small auto pistols. I find they fit the large and small revolvers too just fine. I bought some P-1, P-2 & P-3. So I will be writing this same review for all that I chose.All in all I gotta tell you these are nice storage mittens! I thought they would be cheaply constructed and thinner than they are. Frankly they are top notch in every way. I don't think you will be disappointed in these at all.

Very happy with this purchase. Was looking for something to protect my Glock 43 while it's stored inside my safe and this fit the bill. It fits my gun snugly and the silicone aspect preserves its finish while it's stored. The sewn-in label is a nice added touch even though I personally don't use it. The price point is just right and the quality is on point. I have already recommended this to others and I will definitely be buying more as I add more firearms to my collection.

Excellent quality, but sizing is difficult. Mine did not fit. I went to the manufacturer's website and used their interactive tool with the size recommended based on pistol dimensions. Way too small! I was able to swap out with another bore store I own. On the bore store case itself, I can't seem to find what model number/size it is, so if you throw away the package, you can't be sure of which one you purchased. Reviewer Q&A seemed to differ a little too, as to which size fits which model, but I should have listened to them rather than the manufacturer. Better sizing info would yield 5 star rating.

I bought 2 P1s four years ago for storing a S&W Chief's Special 2", .38 and a Colt Detective 2", .38. The S&W has a square butt with wood grips and fits very well. The Colt has a larger grip and doesn't quite fit, but it has been adequate. I should probably have the next larger size for the Colt. Not a mark on either gun in all that time. I have several other old blued revolvers and find these provide excellent protection from handling marks in a crowded safe.

I gave this a quick A/B test with some cut steel. Both were handled with bare hands and had a deliberate spritz of water on them. One was placed into this pouch and the other was next to it on the shelf. This was in a warm and humid environment that usually requires a dehumidifier for comfort/cleanliness, which was turned off for the duration of the test.This pouch severely reduced surface rust in this "worst case" scenario. Went from noticeable rusting with some slight pitting on the "control" metal to a very light surface rust that wiped off easily and with some vinegar was completely gone for the metal in the BoreStores pouch. With proper maintenance of metals like oiling and wiping down with a silicone rag, this should be the final piece that prevents any rust from occurring at all.Definitely pick one up in whatever size you need (the material is the same on all of them) for every piece you'd like to protect from rust. Even for anything polymer or surface treated, the peace of mind helps, along with the scratch resistance and ease of storage.

I've had these in the past and they are well known for their quality. I recently had to buy two new ones and because the sizing information seems to be a bit confusing I'm adding a pic of a P-1 with a Taurus TCP and a P-2 with a Taurus 'Poly Protector' .38 Special with 2 inch barrel. The TCP is a tight squeeze in the P-1 with the finger extension on the magazine, but still fits nicely.As you probably know, keeping your firearm in a leather holster will dry out the oils and trap moisture, these silicone gun socks are perfect for storage while still providing quick access when your not carrying.

I was stupid and cut off the tag before trying to put my Kimber Micro .380 in it or I would return it. This case is SMALL. I managed to stretch the case enough to get the Kimber in there but it is one tight fit. This is for a palm gun or Derringer, not a "pocket pistol"
