KMC X10SL DLC Bicycle Chain

My bicycle came with a non coated KMC chain as part of the original equipment...it served me well. I have Sram force/rival components so I replaced the chain with a Sram chain.I never paid attention, it was suppose to be less prone to stretch, longer life, so it added a little weight...better service : a little weight, so a swap of sorts. Serviceability was about the same..about 2K+ miles per chainI installed the KMC X10SL DLC...what a difference from the Sram...Quieter, quicker to shift smoother. I noticed a difference when I installed it and set up/adjusted the drive chain. I did not give much though to the need for adjustment between chains.It will be KMC from now on! I do believe this chain makes it quieter and smoother than a stock standard chain. I will update this to reflect wear and serviceability

I was not expecting a difference in the ride. I let my previous chain go for 7,000 miles on a stationary trainer. It was fine. But when I took the first ride on this DCL chain, wow, what a difference. I should have changed it 6,000 miles ago. Acceleration is so smooth. The transfer of power is immediate, visceral. You feel connected to the bike, part of the machine, more powerful.I was expecting it to be quieter though. It isn’t loud, it just sounds like a typical chain, a smooth chain, but it has a presence.Great ride. Highly recommended.

I have this version of the X10SL, the titanium (gold) version, the silver version, and a silver X10L.All are great chains but the shifting is quicker and more precise with this version. It is also quieter than the other version.I had a long s*** problem between two middle cogs on an XTR cassette. when I put this chain on the shift was flawless. I switched back to the gold version and the long shift came back.One more thing, this chain is very quiet.

Bought this chain and put in on in March of this year and checked the wear and still good to go. Even took it to the bicycle shop for a second opinion and they said about 50% wear and no need to replace so I think this chain will last up to 5000 miles or more. Worth the money since I usually replace a chain every 1500 miles.

I bought the KMC X10SL DLC Bicycle Chain to replace the chain on my Dura-Ace 7900 groupset. It wasn't that the Shimano Dura-Ace chain was terrible; in fact it was smooth and quiet...in the beginning. But, after several rides, it's started to "act" up insomuch as gear shifts weren't as crisp and it got noisier. Further, it just seemed to wear down quickly. So, I read about KMC in some forums and thought to give it a try.The KMC out of the box is a thing of beauty. I opted for black and red and it looks great. Down the road, I might even give black and silver a try as others suggests to match the cassette. Anyway, installation was simple, particularly with the missing link locking piece. I certainly won't miss buying pins for the Shimano chain when I wanted to clean it.In terms of ride, the first few rides were amazing. It was crisp, very quiet and perfect. I was immediately pleased. Recently, I got caught in a rain storm, presumably some sand got kicked up from the road, and despite my efforts to clean it perfectly, it's not as deathly silent. It still shifts crisply and cleanly. Further, it doesn't make any grindings sounds that my old Dura-Ace chain would make when it got a bit dirty or old. But, it does have a "mechanical" sound in certain gears that the old Shimano chain didn't make. It's not unpleasing, but it is a little bit different to the ear. I almost like it.Anyway, so far, the chain has been solid. My hope is that it wears much longer than the old chain and I'll really be able to 5 star it.

Be aware that the special link you use to close this can be a bit hidden in the box in which the chain arrives. When I called the manufacturer for help they swore that it would be sitting right on top of the chain, which is where I expected it (maybe in a little plastic bag). That's NOT where it is -- in my case it was UNDERNEATH the chain, and loose in the box. That's not a criticism of the chain -- just a friendly FYI.

Initially I was disappointed that the Shimano Dura Ace 7901 chain was no longer available. Introduced to KMC Diamond Like Coat (DLC) chains ...WOW! SO MUCH better than the Dura Ace 7901! Super quiet, accurate shifts, amazing quickness and precision. Shifting and riding with a KMC DLC chain on a Dura Ace drivetrain is simply amazing! Now we will see how many miles the KMC chain provides before requiring replacement. In the interim, absolutely love riding with the KMC chain. Thank you KMC and amazon.

I did a lot of research before buy my KMC chain. Check out the company, solid history and products. I have zero regrets. I have used this with Shimano and Campy groupsets. Functions flawlessly and looks sharp. I have put about 500mi on mine with only 1 tune-up.

This chain is a lot more expensive than any other chain I've ever bought. for those who are conscious of weight, it's 15% lighter than my previous chanin, and it looks very prity given my bike is black and red. I love it, if one can say that about their bike chain.Still I think I overpaid a bit for the "diamond" jewelary box it came in - a bit overkill on the packaging, but it's still a nice chain.

Great quality chain, I highly recommend this for your 10 speed setup.

Chain came quick because of Amazon Prime! It's a great chain, product packaging was excellent. Installed it on my Giant Trance X 29er and it works awesome.
