Good starter kit. Bone folders are plastic though.
Got this set for leatherworking actually, and needed all the pieces anyways. Convenient that I could just buy this! I loved that it indeed came with everything as shown, and the needles even have a thin case of their own. The bone folder isn’t bone, or even synthetic bone, but heavy duty acrylic, which is slightly disappointing. The awl is sharp and goes through garment weight leather with ease, and the waxed linen thread fits within the larger needles fairly easily. Happy overall. If I need to replace any pieces, I’ll probably buy them individually as needed instead of a whole set like this. Overall a good starter kit.

Good starter set
The bone folders are not of the highest quality as I had imperfections in both of my styles that leaves marks in paper if you are not careful. The awl and twine are good and they have a good asst of needles included. This is a good starter set for the money but I will need to purchase a better bone folder for high quality results in folding and flattening of seams.

A place to start
This is a decent set for the money! The bone folder works just fine, though seems a bit bendy/flimsy. The awl is also doing its job however I've noticed it's already losing sharpness after a couple weeks of use. The needles haven't given me any issues and the case is convenient for not poking yourself with extra needles lying around! The thread however is far too thick for bookbinding. It will not glide through holes made by a regular awl. The holes would have to be huge, more suited for a large craft or scrapbook perhaps. I had to purchase a much thinner thread before starting my hardcover project.

Great kit for getting started in bookbinding
I wanted to learn about bookbinding because, as an artist, I wanted to make my own little sketchbooks, cut to the size I wanted. I planned to use them for urban sketching. I saw directions online that listed all the supplies you needed: awl, needles, thread, bone folder etc.... so I started searching on Amazon and was happy to find this kit that had everything you needed to get started (except the paper). And it arrived so fast! After going through the steps on the first one, I got the hang of it right away and made 6 little sketchbooks in about half an hour. (I found directions online.)I am delighted with this kit and recommend to anyone interested in trying out the art of bookbinding.

Bind, Rebind, and Repair Books
The register for my Lodge is the same register of members since 1858. Recently the binding broke apart. I used a Mending Tape to repair torn pages using the bone folders in this kit to burnish the tape and even to stitch a separated bifolio together (time will tell if that lasts). I then used this kit to re-sew the binding. It includes a variety of needles and the waxed thread works nicely keeping the long length required from bunching up and getting knotted as I had sewn. Great starter set.

Solid starter kit
There's still a place for stab binding. And honestly, a stab bound book looks really handsome. This kit has everything that you need and the punch is sized well. The needle sizes are a bit iffy, and you may need to get tapestry thread for smaller work. However, this kit is a solid start to book binding.

Comes with everything shown, works well
The package comes with everything as shown. The bone folders are plastic and off white, and the awl works well. I especially liked the thread, it's waxed with a good heft, and makes it easy to slide through when you're sewing signatures through books. Good for a hobbyist like me.

Great Value! Satisfied and ready to start some binding!
This is great value for the money! The bone folders are not real bone but make good creases. Everything seems like good quality (I have had for 2 mo). I love having a needle holder- I am not sure why I didn’t come up with this on my own but it is so nice to have all my needles together. The waxed thread does it’s job nicely and the awl made holes easily. I am a satisfied customer.
