Widely regarded as one of the foremost songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been called contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world's best-known venues. Bearing the stamp of a masterful storyteller who "observes the world with a clinically poetic eye" (The New York Times), Vega's songs have tended to focus on city life, ordinary people and real-world subjects. Notably succinct and understated, her work is immediately recognizable - as utterly distinct and thoughtful as it was when her voice was first heard on the radio over 30 years ago. The Close Up Series, originally released over a decade ago, is now available in a beautifully packaged and designed bookpack. It includes the Close-Up albums Volumes 1-4, each as a different color 180g heavyweight vinyl LP. It also contains a 28-page booklet featuring a foreword by Suzanne, a brand new essay by Lenny Kaye and the full lyrics for each song.

Excellent pressing, nicely recorded and very well packaged
I had been a CD user of this material since they came out but really love the new analog feel and sound of the music as delivered via vinyl. Very well packaged, nicely done all around. Heirloom quality in my mind.

A beautifully crafted box set
What is there not to like about Suzanne Vega. I have been a huge fan of Vega since her very first album and have most of her albums on cd. However the addition of some of the more recent tracks being added to the vinyl catalogue has added a new dimension to her work. Although I have the close up series on cd, I decided to splash out and buy the vinyl box set. I am so glad that I did. It is a wonderful piece of work and truly worth the cost. Almost afraid to play the albums as they look so attractive and believe me they truly deserve being played on a high quality record deck. Her voice is as fresh as it was in the 1990s. So pleased she has reworked the content of the tracks giving them more depth. The quality on vinyl is like having Suzanne singing in the corner of my living room. (One can dream) pure quality.

Really musical box set
If you are a fan of Suzanne Vega then you will want this boxed set of stripped back, acoustic, versions of her songs. The 4 records are laid out thematically and have beautifully recorded renditions of Suzanne’s songs. The pressing quality is top notch.
