Depending on luck and area of operations you could either be on the tip of the spear, or somewhere below, but never completely out of harm's way. A very good diverse read. The last chapter sums up the story of several warriors who somehow survived a harrowing action, described in their own memories, but never were in contract after returning to the world. Likely a very common perspective, but the revelations in these experiences are priceless personal history in the place and time which was Vietnam. Great job, and many thanks for your service and sharing your experiences.

A variety of combat experiences from various participants illustrating the unusual courage and dedication of Army aviators.
As an infantry officer, I spent considerable time in UH1's in Vietnam, both with US and Vietnamese crews. I have great admiration for those pilots. I think a higher percentage of pilots and crew members were killed in Vietnam than infantrymen. This is an excellent anthology of experiences of pilots with different viewpoints of the war. Thanks to the association that put this book together--great stories from very brave soldiers. The Vietnam War was very different in each corps (I-IV) or military region as they were called later in the war. This book samples of experiences from each.

Helicopter War Stories
Essentially a collection of short personal memoirs written by helicopter pilots who fought in Viet Nam. The quality of the writing varies greatly from highly entertaining and gripping to about as dry as a official after action report. Editing is a little spotty as well. However, for a very reasonable price you'll get some great firsthand Viet Nam combat stories that, as far as I know, don't exist anywhere else.

Vietnam helicopter heroes
Just read this book - husband was pilot of "Curious Yellow". He never talks about Vietnam much and I just read about this terrifying, heroic experience. I plan to pass this story on to his grown grandchildren so they will remember him as a hero. He just received a heart transplant - many of the doctors believe his heart disease is the result of agent orange as daughter has undergone same disease. Sad. Our forgotten heroes.Thank you Michael for getting this published.

Another Good One
This collection of Vietnam helicopter pilot stories was as terrific as the others have been. Lazares’ last collection is a wonderful addition to the previous ones. Thank you for putting all of these together. May you rest in Vietnam helicopter pilots’ heaven.
