DJECOMermaids Glitter Craft Kit

I bought this for my 7 year old daughter to do with me as a gift. She did need help but only so that we didn't end up with a mess of glitter everywhere. They give you plenty of glitter to cover the pictures provided. The only thing I can say I didn't like is one color of glitter was so light it was hard to see it and the other colors that got on it would stick out. We fixed the mixing of colors simply by doing the lightest colors last. But in all she enjoyed it and they turned out nicely.

The pictures are great, really beautiful, and what kid doesn't like glitter? Like the Djeco sand artwork, this set comes with four pictures, each of which will take about an hour to put together. It's fun to work on, great activity for parent and child, and when you're done, they really look fantastic on the wall. Our three year old girl loves pouring and spreading the glitter, picking out the right colors, basically doing everything except peeling off the sticker paper (that's parent's job!). Rating this with 5 stars because it really is fun, but have to complain that the glitter is just so darn messy. Unlike the sand, which flows easily, the glitter is sticky and hard to clean up. Basically you're going to need to vacuum after using this, and you'll end up with glitter on your hands, face, clothes.

Arrived on time and is a fun art project. We've done quite a few of these. And the glitter ones are easier to get a nice quality finished product then the foil ones. Some reason we can just never get the foil to not look wrinkly. But the sand ones in the glitter ones always look lovely. Very satisfying to do. We give them as birthday gifts.

Cute, but with other djeco products lacks the real creative process. In the end it looks amazing and kudos for the designers, but take a minute guys to design something that give some creative control to the little ones. 4 stars for actually making something beautiful again.

I used this kit as an activity for a group of 7 year old girls. They loved it, even though they needed some help from their parents to get the job done. The design is well above your typical craft for this age. Parents appreciated the novelty. Overall it was worth the $17 spent. Each kid went home with an art job that was pretty enough to hang up on the wall.

These boards are beautiful and my 6 year old/1st grade daughter can do them by herself once I showed her how to sweep the excess glitter back into the tube. The box it comes in is well constructed and contains the glitter mess. This craft is worth the price - we're already on our second box. I have started searching for other Djeco products as they are truly beautiful and well made.

The pictures, as usual for Djeco, are gorgeous. The kit is very similar to the sand art kit that Djeco makes-- you peel off labels with a number corresponding to a specific color. Underneath is adhesive that holds the glitter in place. My daughter and I prefer the sand art kit for two reasons: 1) the sand art pictures' peel off areas include the entire image, whereas the peel off areas on the glitter pictures is limited to certain parts of the dress and small portions of the background. 2) as other reviews have indicated, the glitter is pretty fine and gets everywhere, sticks to everything, and is difficult to clean off of surfaces, skin, etc. overall, I thought the sand art images were more vibrant and the sand color corresponded better to the colors shown in the included booklet (e.g. one of the glitters should have been more of a green but was actually a white peppered with green and gray glitter. This would have been fine, but my daughter insisted that we couldn't use the glitter from the tube straight but had to mix in other glitter colors to achieve the same shade as in the booklet. Talk about messes... Anyway, it's art and creating a new color is creative, and messy art is good, but I thought the booklet was misleading by showing the wrong color glitter). The sand art kit we have is Birds of Paradise-- really fun and pretty and much less mess!
