I really like the electronic eye feature. I have mobility problems such that a trash can with a "step on the pedal to lift the lid" mechanism doesn't work for me. Two other issues that this trash can resolved for me: 1) My cat would tug on overhanging trash bags to pull my other trash cans over. 2) My daughter stops by only every 2 weeks or so to take my trash out for me. This trash can resolved these issues because it is extra large and it works with trash bags kept entirely inside. It requires four "D" batteries to work. It has an on/off button, so I set it for "off" when I am not in the kitchen just in case my cat tries jumping on it, etc. It comes with swivel wheels to attach to the bottom, so it is easily moved although it is large. It is extremely attractive for a trash can, so it looks just fine in my kitchen although it is larger than most trash cans folks keep in their kitchens. When received, I only had to attach the wheels to the bottom of the can and install the batteries and this can was ready to go! It is working great so far. I was a bit concerned about some reviews that said the can quit working after about a year. I noticed, though, that one kind reviewer posted instructions on how to reset the opening mechanism and I am relying on his information. Just to make sure everyone knows how to reset this item, here's how once again per that kind reviewer: "turn the mechanism off; take out batteries and leave them out for six hours; replace batteries; then turn it back on." The total cost with shipping, etc. was $206. When I think about the fact that I spent over $200 for a trash can, I feel a little foolish except when I think about how well this particular trash can resolved issues for me that no others could. Also, other brands of this size are nearly as costly, but don't have the electronic eye feature. So, all in all, I'm pleased with this trash can and looking forward to many years of not having to clean up trash messes created by my cat!

I have owned this product for a while now and I love it. I also purchased with it the AC adapter and wheels and I am so glad I did. Easy to move to clean under and don't have to worry about batteries. I use this in my home and it looks great!!!! Everyone who comes to my home comments how they like it and asked me where did you get this? I love the auto open feature and as of date it has always worked with no problems. The size is great and with the inside ring to to hold the bag it also makes ti easy to remove and replace bag. Highly recommend this product and I would also advise buying the AC adapter and wheels (they were easy to put on). With the great look of this product you can place it anywhere and not have to worry about hidding your trash can.

high price on kitchen trash can , but good product , plastic wheels broke off - no way to fix , you should replace for poor quality

Follow up review: I loved this trash can when I first got it, however afyer 1 month one side stopped working. I yried to contact support # Amazon provides for this company but no one picks up and I legt message and no one called me back. This trash can is too expensive for it to only work for one month so I have chanhed my score on review.I have bought many metal trash cans with pedal on bottom & there was always issues where after a while they would not work well. This automatic one I really love, sensor works well, nice not to have to open with hands or feet, I would strongly recommend to buy the seperate adapter instead of using batteries, adapter is aprox $20

Very responsive.Accepts standard trash bags.Removable bins are very convenient.Very light yet very sturdy.Looks greatLow footprint in the kitchenYou can turn off the auto-open feature while changing the trash liner. It's very helpful which I understand isn't a standard feature on trash cans like this.Complaints:Smudges super easily on sides and top.The removable bins are tricky to get the swing of adding trash liners on. Has the potential to annoy until you get the hang of it.The bins are kind of small compared with how much space it could have.Considerations:The lid sensor is very sensitive and I don't think you can adjust the sensitivity. So walking past the bin swings the lid open. It's on the light side of annoying. If you have tall pets, they'll definitely trigger it.Would recommend, regardless.

This trash can has changed my life.... I hate having to touch the trashcan when I am cooking and have food on my hands. I am now able to roll my can over to where I need it and I can dispose of trash without touching. The sensor is a little sensitive and opens frequently when I walk by, but I rather that than not having the top open. Definitely worth the investment

I got this because my kitchen does not have a good place for a trash can and I needed something that I could roll under the bar and look nice. The dimensions are absolutely perfect for my space. I don’t have a plug nearby and it has a place for batteries and so I was excited about that. I was worried it would open and close when I walk by, but it doesn’t. The touchless function works great. I had a little dent in mine in the back which I was bummed about, but whatever, it’s in the back. It isn’t a cheap trash can so I was bummed that there was a dent to begin with. I love that there is a side for recycling and one for trash though you will need to label them somehow yourself for guests because the design on the trash can is the same for both sides. Each side has a “bucket” you can pull out. I’m really annoyed because the bucket on the left is stuck and I have tried so hard to get it unstuck and I cant. The bucket on the right works fine so I’m using that side for recycling. This will cause a problem later with the left one if I want to clean it out. Putting a trash bag is kind of cumbersome. Overall I feel “okay” with the purchase.

I should have gotten a bigger one but love that I don’t have to manually open the garbage can anymore.
