Woefully ill informed author. This is more exploitation than information.
The problem with initiated people writing about Orisas is that whatever they think they know is just a guess. Let’s start with the concept of 7 African powers. This is not an Orisa concept. Seven African Powers are 7 groups of African ethnic groups that came to the Diaspora, not Orisa. There are 401 Orisa...not 7. This is basic info for an initiated priest but obviously there are people who just want to make money off of knowling very little. This is the problem with Wiccans trying to capitalize off of ancient traditions. So if the core principle of the very topic is wrong, you can imagine how inaccurate the other information is. Just because it’s written, doesn’t make it true. Wicca , a neo European religion is not and cannot speak for Ancient Orisa Traditions. The author is Wiccan, not any kind of initiate of any Orisa. Ill informed author seems more interested in selling a book o people who hunger for their ancestral traditions than getting accurate information.

Good book for a newbie
This is an extremely easy read. The author does a great job of breaking down the 7 Orishas and their meaning. It was explained in the simplest of terms which is great for someone like me. I will take what lI earned from this book and continue to expand on that. This is good for anyone who is new to the Orishas and the study's of the Yoruba religious tradition. The spells and prayers were a plus. Some grammatical errors, but easy to over look.

Missing critical information
This is a small but informative book. It's getting 3 starts because the book has some spells listed but no directions on how to make the ingredients included. How can I add Yoruba open path oil to my spell when I don't know how to make it?

Skip This....
Very difficult to follow as you have to make edits to the author's grammar throughout. Information is not very consistent. In one chapter Yemaya is regarded as Oshuns mother. In the very next chapter (1 page apart) ..her sister. I understand there is tales of both but it would be nice to see the author hold firm to their belief of the relationship. The actual reading material is 30 pages before it goes into spells, recipes and such. Information is very basic. Mostly feast days, colors, numbers, offerings and general information. I learned nothing new

Faulty
I want to return this item but my partner won’t let me because it was delayed twice. I wish I could simply review the content but from the photos you can see that the book is completely falling a part and the lines are slanted on the page. So bad print and binding. I don’t know if the author is aware but this is awful.

Spiritual Seeker
This book offers the basic information into getting acquainted with the Seven African Orishas. Before reading this book my knowledge of the loas were of only two. Now I can add five more to my list of Orishas Ase. I am grateful that this author made the content easy to read and I recommended it to other spiritual seekers.

Very informative!
This book was very informative and easy to read. I’m a beginner and I am looking forward to putting forth the knowledge I gained through reading this book. I know that I connect most with the Orisha Yemaya, however, when I’ve gone to the beach with offerings i never called on Papa Legba first. This could be the state of disillusion and confusion that I’ve been in, which this book explained. Great read with very minimal errors.

Meh
It’s good for basic information. It seem like the author just google then copy and paste what she find. There was little to no proof reading and some sentences and paragraphs were either just poorly rewritten to say the same thing that was just stated or they were just completely repeated. Also some statements just contradicts its self. It seem like the author has is not an expert on on the topic. It seem a lot of her books are like this very short and bare minimum information I got this book before most books I find on the topic is written by white author and I’m trying to support more black author. But this one is just writing for the money and it kinda makes me sad.

An informative starting point, I really recommended it for newbies.
This was my first book on African Orisha's I needed to really solidify what I thought I knew, this book helped me to gain a much better understanding. I even now have an idea of who my deity is to honour, I've been looking around for a female Goddess that called to me, I had trouble relating to many from other cultures. Anyway, this book is highly recommended by me as a starting point for anyone who wants to understand better their African roots, culture and spiritualism. I would say this is just the starting point, you will need to go off and do further reading , however this book WILL give you an excellent foundation in the seven powers that been, who they are, what to offer to them, and when is the best time to call on them, even get a good feel for the Gods and Goddess if you are familiar with Tarot, as the author links them to Tarot cards and Astrology so if you understand this you can understand even better. There are some resources in the back to make spells, incense etc which is a bonus. I read this book in one sitting on the Kindle and will buy the paperback, happy to have this on my book shelf. I will check out the author's other books also. Very happy and glad I read it.
