Gracie and Mouse are Moving House

Bought this book for my 6 and 8yo boys before our house move. Both boys really enjoy it and it has helped to express some of the things they are worried about about moving.The book rhymes throughout and has good rhythm. The text just runs off the tongue beautifully and the rhymes aren’t contrived like they are in some other rhyming books.

This is a nicely written and illustrated book about moving house, which would be great for very small children. The lead character, a little girl, is moving house with her mum and grandmother - the father is not mentioned in the story (no problem about this) and the reason for the move is not covered either. (Again, no problem with this, but it’s worth mentioning)It is fairly lighthearted and doesn’t dig into big emotions of loss and sadness about leaving a much-loved home, and doesn’t address worry and apprehension about future home or school/ nursery settings. I bought this for my twins (age 6) and unfortunately it was not the right purchase for them, but I can imagine that a tiny boy or girl (up to age 4) would enjoy it very much. I am still on the hunt for a children’s book that deals with the big feelings and covers building courage and resilience to help them cope when things feel difficult or overwhelming ahead of a house / location move.In this book, the focus is more on the practical details of moving house, so if your child is curious or interested in the actual move (‘how will my toys get to the new house?’) and days immediately following, this would be a good book to get.

Beautiful little story! I bought as a gift to send to a friend’s children. Lovely clear illustrations and a great way to help little ones understand what happens next and feel positive about moving.

This is such a lovely book, I thoroughly recommend for children whether you are moving house or not. I read it with my 4 year old daughter and she said she "loved it" and found all the characters very "cute." The story is so reassuring and addresses all the issues that kids may go through when they are thinking about what moving might be like, but in a very accessible way. I think it's great that the author is an expert in this area and so the content is based on evidence about what will help. Above all though, it's just a beautiful children's book.

I bought this book for my daughter as we are in the process of moving house . My daughter loves this book especially the illustrations and it helps youngsters understand what moving to a new house involves.

This was recommended to us by friends as we were preparing to move house. We read it to our kids and it started some great positive conversations about their feelings on moving house.Highly recommend this to read with young children if you're moving home.

Great book that both my children (4 & 1) have asked for repeatedly in the run up to our move. Beautiful illustrations as well.

The illustrations are beautiful and the story is easy to follow for children. Both my nephews love it (age 6 and 3) and the elder one enjoyed reading it
