I read Scripture differently now
Not only is this book a spectacular treatment on women in Scripture, but the way the author has engaged the histories of the highlighted women has actually caused me to read the Bible differently. I’m more curious about the people whose lives are recorded and contemplative about the circumstances surrounding what the Bible shares. I am thankful to Nana Dolce for her intentionality in creating this masterful work.

Clear, engaging, full of hope
Nana Dolce’s book The Seed of the Woman, traces God’s plan to redeem his people through a line of faithful women, and shows us the gospel story and gospel hope woven throughout the scriptures.I was eager to read this book because Nana Dolce is a clear and expert Bible teacher and her talks are beautifully expressed. She did not disappoint. In 30 short, vivid chapters, Nana Dolce sketches 30 women of the Bible who point us to Jesus, the “seed of the woman” (the descendent of Eve), who would defeat Satan and redeem and transform God’s people. As she wrote in the introduction, “We are women with full hands, we battle noisy distractions, and face cunning temptations. We need books that preach Christ. We need the good news that proves true – not false promises that glitter then fade. The Seed of the Woman is a book on women that is ultimately about a Man.”Like her teaching, Nana’s book is clear, engaging, and well-written. She has crafted apt illustrations and readable prose. She explains the biblical and historical context to clarify the setting and characters. Like the author, the book is steeped in Scripture and solid biblical theology.By spotlighting these women, The Seed of the Woman helps us see the big picture of the scripture and the greatness and faithful love of God. I received an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review. I recommend this book, and will be awaiting more from Nana Dolce.

An Empathetic Call to Examine Scripture
If every part of scripture points to Christ, then there are no insignificant narratives in the Scriptures. Nana Dolce’s book shows this to be true as she walks with readers through well-known and obscure narratives of women in the Bible, then points her readers to the Christological significance of each. Reading as a daily devotional, each chapter covers a woman’s story in Scripture and gives it a socio-historic context that most of us would just gloss over in a regular reading. This context puts these narrative under a bigger lens, and the empathy that she gives each story draws the reader in, making them see injustices, pain, flaws, longing, and brokenness recorded in a sprinkling of verses more severely, and the redemption, joy and justice of God that follows as exceedingly great, and in the instances where justice appears delayed, the anticipation for the final strike on sin, even more pronounced.Nana’s diligent exposition of these women’s lives within the redemptive-historical narrative is a call for us to examine the Scriptures with greater intention - to pore into every story and see Christ magnified in every page.May He be glorified in our reading of this book, and in our return to the Scriptures afterwards.

Biblical, Relatable, Gospel Focused
I lead a small group for moms with young children, and found this book through Risen Motherhood. I highly recommend The Seed of the Woman! This book is excellent because it provides Biblical content through beautiful narratives told by Nana. She shares stories from the Old Testament with truth from Scripture, connects each story to the gospel message, and tells the story in a way that is human (in the best possible way). If you are considering this book, take this as a sign to go ahead and buy it!

Snippets of wisdom, challenge and joy
Really enjoying digging into this book (as recommended on the Two Sisters and a Cup of Tea podcast... also worth a listen!) Short chapters take your through the women of the Old Testament and through their different stories and challenges point you to Jesus. Really helpful 'reflection' at the beginning of each chapter focuses in on the key takeaways too.
