How to Draw: Harry Potter

First things first, I'm not especially a Harry Potter fan, but I am an artist who bought this book as a resource in preparation for a Christmas gift I'm making for my niece . . . who is THE Harry Potter fan.First the important part: this is NOT one of those el-cheapo clip art and generic stick figure "How to Draw" books that seem to be choking Amazon's book section. Written and GORGEOUSLY illustrated by an actual writer and fantasy artist, it contains real instructions to create the illustrations in the book, and advise for building up the skills needed to create more illustrations.That being said, be warned, the book would best be utilized by someone with at least a casual knowledge of basic artistic concepts such as tone drawing, perspective, anatomy etc. Or, at the very least someone who's skills in certain areas (like myself) maybe could use a polishing. Still, the instructions are easy enough to follow that any level artist with an interest in drawing, who isn't afraid of a little trial and error experimentation, will get great results with a little time and effort.As a bonus, when they say "Included Sketchbook," they mean it. The sketch book is actually built into the book itself, making a very attractive package, designed to resemble an artist's "Traveler" type sketchbook.In short, a great gift for that Hogwarts fan, or aspiring fantasy artist.

I thought this was an instructional drawing book, but it contains major plot spoilers. I would not recommend to anyone who hasn’t completed reading/watching the series.
