Review: A small but useful tool for hand quilting! - I would not hand quilt without using Thread Magic! And I’ve hand quilted for 50 years. I love the look of hand quilted peices, and I love hand quilting as a way to sew. I find it relaxing and peaceful. A quilter I once met described it beautifully. And I quote” The needle is guided by the hand. And the hand is guided by the heart”. Here is how Thread Magic helps : to thread the small needles used in hand quilting requires three separate things: 1) that you use a good cotton thread-I only use cotton fabric, and so you must sew with cotton thread. I like Guitermann100% cotton quilting thread. I cut about 14” of thread from the spool, on a very sharp angle. I run the thread through the Thread Magic Square. If you look at it, you can see just where to do that, so your thread is finely coated with the “Thread Magic”, which prevents the thread from twisting and knotting and misbehaving in ways that are annoying! Now all quilters eventually find their favorite knot. I make two loops and run the needle back through those loops, while using my otherhand to keep the knot down by the end of the thread. Now you’re ready to learn to bury that knot in the batting, and then you’re ready to begin quilting! Yay! I will back up, and explain this: I taught myself to do this on what I will call, my “test” quilt. Your test quilt is two 12” squares of plain fabric, with a 12” square of batting in between those two squares of plain fabric. If you have, let’s say, a 12” quilting hoop, you will need to make your squares of a batting and fabric about 20”. Then your “Test quilt” will fit nicely in your 12” quilting hoop. I have used my 12” quilting hoop for many years. It is a comfortable size for me. Here is a tip: take your quilt out of the hoop when you’re not quilting, because otherwise your quilt will get dents in it. So. Back to your needle, and thread, and the knot! It’s fun to learn this- you slide the needle through the top of your “test quilt” top. Tilt the needle, and come out about an inch away. Now pull the needle slowly, and that knot is getting closer to the top of your test quilt. Now! Yank that needle and that knot is going to “Pop” inside the batting and disappear! And you are still hanging onto the needle! And your thread is in position to begin hand quilting. Now is when you need to slip a thimble on your finger. To quilt, you rock that needle in small movements like tiny steps across the top. And when the thread grows short, you wrap two loops around the needle, and “Pop” the new knot right through the top of your quilt sandwich, into the batting, with the needle on an angle.then pull the needle up along the top, and trim your thread. Now you’re ready to cut another 14” piece of thread on an angle, and run it through the Thread Magic-Etc!!!
Review: No residue left on thread. Makes a huge difference when hand sewing! - Really works!!! I use on my felt stockings. The thread does not knot and slides easily through the material! Makes a huge difference!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love this version

This one is better than the original one. The pluses are: you won't lose the lid as it's attached with a silicone hinge and there is a cutter underneath. I like the square shape better than the round. You just lay your thread or floss across the top of the waxy block. Snap shut the lid and gently pull your thread or floss through the closed block. Viola, you have a nice coat of the waxy substance on your thread. I use it for embroidery floss as it keeps the thread from twisting as I stitch and the thread doesn't fray either. I used to have the Thread Heaven a long time ago, but this seems to work just as well. I'm so glad I bought this as I need it badly with my cross stitching work. This one I find is the best and more than likely better than bees wax.
