Stands up to a lot
I wanted a way to fly a tarp from the roof rack on my jeep in order to give me some shade or shelter from the rain on car camping trips. I found these poles, and decided to go with them. I’m glad I did.Unlike some other reviewers, my package arrived with two poles. I threw them into my jeep before a week long camping trip with family. We were in South Dakota, and the campsite wasn’t super well-shaded. The august sun was pretty aggressively hot, and so I figured it was a perfect opportunity to try these things out. The poles are robust, and they extended out enough that I never had to stoop under the tarp. With a little knowledge of knots and how to properly stake them down, I had a sunshade that covered our campsite beautifully. I used an aquaquest defender tarp (a great lightweight tarp), one ridge line between trees, and one of these poles on the last two corners. The setup held up beautifully for 5 days in this configuration with only periodic adjustment due to the lines I used stretching slightly over several days. Two minor things:First: I put a small hole in the plastic caps that come with the pole and tied a little keeper line securing them to the pole. While setting up, I had a habit of putting a cap down to tie a knot or adjust something, and then had to figure out where I had set it a few minutes later (usually while trying to keep tension on the pole with one hand). With the little keeper line, I’ll never need to go looking for them again.Second: I don’t fault the pole at all for this one, in fact I think it’s a testament to it’s durability. But one day we left camp for several hours to go for a hike. The wind picked up while we were away to probably sustained 15-20 mph with gusts in the neighborhood of 25 or 30. The way I had the tarp configured with that particular wind direction, the tarp acted like a sail and put a LOT of stress on the poles before I returned to camp and could adjust things. I noticed that one of the end pegs was bent by maybe 2mm. It’s still 100% useable and like I said, it was my own fault for allowing it to absorb so much strain. I figure if it can stand up to that amount of strain for hours, it must be very well built.I’m really happy with this purchase, and I highly recommend these poles.

Great for tarps and as spare tent poles.
I've had the pleasure of using these over a dozen times since the purchase, and I think they are great. I've had them hold up in flash thunder storms with winds up to 55mph. How?! you ask... multiple tie downs, and lowering them as much as possible to still maintain the shelter. Great addition to my camp and festival gear.

Great for tarps
These are large tarp poles, not tent poles as incorrectly described in the description. I use them to support a campsite tarp beside our 4x4 SUV. They seem well made and work very well for the price. Be sure to click on 'two' for the best price or you'll only get one. Note: The price has gone way up since I ordered so be aware of that too.

Camping game changer!
Bought these to hold up the tarp while camping .... I bought 4 (so 2 sets) and I absolutely LOVED them! I will be buying more .... we used them to hold up the front end of a 28 × 20 foot tarp and it was great! We set up three in the front, and one in the middle in the back of the tents. We were all able to walk under the tarp and the tents were nice and dew free in the morning (which make tear down quicker and easier on the last day). If it had rained, everything would have been dry.

Seem good so far but only used for a week on an ocean kayak trip.
These are NOT backpacking poles as they advertised unless you are the HULK.
