My favorite shave soap, travels well, and pretty eco friendly
I use this soap in its original container (no need for a mug,...) and a container lasts a loonng time. I use it with a shaving brush and it works wonderfully well. Shaking the 'loose' water out of the brush before swirling around on the cake of soap works well for me. The first handful of times doing so with a new cake takes a while to pickup enough soap on the brush. To make it easier in the future I usually close the container right away to lock in residual moisture and soften the soap just a bit. (The soap gets a little cloudy in appearance.) These containers seal water tight for the lifetime of their contents and are safe/durable for travel in a toiletries bag.Months later I do the opposite and leave the container open to dry out the soap when it starts getting too soft (towards goopy) or threatens to spin in the container. In between little thought is required to quickly get a good amount of soap on the brush and not leave standing water on the soap. And to that point, I have worked up thick lathers in the container with this soap. Its not at all necessary for a good shave though. Usually I just get enough soap on the brush to transfer to my face and brush around to develop a thin film on my face with minimal foaming. That works well for me and wastes little soap. If one wanted to quickly work up a thick lather then letting the soap get more waterlogged and using Hot water would suffice. As to eco-friendliness, a cake of soap in a paper wrapper would be more so. But traveling with a saving mug,... would be a pain. The little bit of plastic in one of these containers is about as minimal of combined packaging and travel container as I could find especially considering how long a container lasts. The scent is also nice (and mild) as is the scent of the Almond variety.

Great shave soap
Haven’t opened any of these yet but I use Col. Conk shave soap already and love it. A true premium shaving soap. Very luxurious feel with excellent shave quality. If you use soap and shaving brush this will make you feel pampered.

I was wrong 😔
The first time I tried this new stuff I gave up mid shave and finished with something else. I tried it again tonight and it turned out to be a wonderful shave. Soak the puck while you're in the shower and keep it wet 😉 the wetter the better. I used Proraso pre shave and finished with Nivea shave balm. What a great shave it was , just treat it like Williams mug soap and you'll love it. It's in my shave rotation.

Best shave soap
Order these to try them for shaving my head. First off the smell great. They have a nice thick lather and don't dry my scalp out. Highly recommend

Not what it once was.
I started using an old fashioned safety razor, brush, and soap back in 2011. It's so much less of a rip off than all the plastic crap and a better shave. I've used Colonel Conk Amber Glycerin Shave Soap since then, and have been very happy....until now.I was going to return these but the product line has changed. Not the soap it used to be. Not 2.25 oz, now these are 2 oz bars, not a glycerin based soap so the lather dies quicker. The fact that these are still advertised and sold as the old product is an annoying oversight at best, and a possible scam at the worst.Update the listing.I will be looking for another glycerin based soap.

The old standby...
This soap is amazing on my sensitive skin. There is hardly any scent to be had, and the scent you are able to smell is so light and pleasant, you won't want to reach for anything else. It lathers quite well and stays wet for a reasonable amount of time. I usually lather my face first, shave, then lather my neck and shave again. When you use a warmed cup and hot water, beard hairs and stubble give way to soft and smooth skin in a matter of a few swipes with a good razor. It lubricates nicely and my safety razor slides through my 3-4 days of stubble growth with relative ease when using this shave soap.If you have sensitive skin and an easily bothered sense of smell, I highly recommend this soap for all wet shavers with the same issues as myself. You won't be disappointed, especially at the price you are paying and the quality that Col. Conk pushes into their products. Take note, this soap should last you quite a while, as a little goes a long way.

Dense Lather. Comfortable Shave.
I prefer Colonel Conk soap to other brands because it is glycerin, and glycerin soap produces a nice dense slick lather. So it helps your razor glide very smoothly and the result is a very close and comfortable shave. And the lather doesn't dry out on your face during shaving. One cake lasts me for at least a month of shaves and the amber scent is my favorite, a mild masculine smell. A boar brush works best with this soap because a glycerin cake is somewhat hard and the stiff boar bristles work well to develop a lather that is just the right consistency. The Colonel Conk boar brush is a good match with this soap.
