Knockoff works better than name brand!
MobileMate is SanDisk's trademarked name for their Micro SD reader that this is a knockff of. Here's how I know it's a knockoff. The Amazon page for this item identifies it as "MOBILEMATE", but not "Sandisk MobileMate". The ones made by Sandisk clearly say "SanDisk CARD READER" on the back, as you can see in the photo at [...]. The back of this one is blank. Furthermore, the stenciling of the letters on this one is sloppy. The edges aren't sharp, as they are on the real Sandisk item. On this one, the contacts are silver-colored, whereas the Sandisk ones have gold-colored contacts. And the color isn't quite right. The red part is a muted red, not the bright fire-engine red of the authentic Sandisk ones.Although there's no question that this is a knockoff, I was surprised to find that it performs better than the authentic ones. I've found the Sandisk readers are extremely sensitive any bump while they're in use. It seems that when it's plugged into a laptop's USB port the slightest bump will cause Sandisk's reader to momentarily lose contact with the laptop, and in doing so it fries the reader's circuitry! I have about 8 non-functioning Sandisk readers, all of which died in the course of about a month.I ordered several of these, thinking that since it said "Mobilemate" it must be Sandisk. When they arrived and the visual cues made it clear that they were knockoffs, I was disappointed. But I used them anyway, and was surprised and pleased to find that these knockoffs don't seem to be anywhere near as vulnerable to getting their circuitry fried as the authentic Sandisk ones. Over the course of about 3 months, only one of the knockoffs has died, as compared to 8 of the authentic ones that died within a single month!

better built
I got one of these to replace the micro to usb adapter that came with my card. Works great with Linux (Debian stable & kde 4) and windows. I'm not going to put it on a key chain. It does seam better made than the adapter that came with my card but with its size and the work I do outside the home I think it would break if I took it around in my pocket with my keys. I got this one because it is made to work with only two types of cards. My thinking is that the adapters made to work with several types have a better chance of failing. This is more true when you have to put a micro card into a full size card adapter then convert to usb (as most make you do). I have been able to leave the adapter in my usb slot and just remove and replace the micro sd card as needed (after clicking safely remove hardware). The only downside is that the reader maxes out at 16gb but so does my phone so that will not be an issue for me. It was totally worth the $2.25.

Have not used it.
I have not used this product, however it has memory that can work if/when needed. Excellent product. I don't think I needed it, but it was cheap to purchase so hope I get to use it before computer software no longer provides the components that make it capable for use. My daughter uses hers all the time. I will ask her what she gets out of it. She purchased hers from radio shack. I like the SD card better, and currently use it for whatever I want to use it for. I see, you can transfer files to device and then to computer without a wire or other device. Oh well, the wire is easier for me at this time.

For the price, its a very good device
Contrary to some other reviewers, I found this device to be very sturdy and nicely manufactured. For the price at least.i have many Micro-SDs lying around ranging from 2 - 8 GB as I have moved onto 32 and 64Gb for most devices. So this thing comes in handy to use as a never ending USB device. It is really small and discrete too. Its exactly the size of a USB jack added to the size of a Micro-SD card.My only gripe is that the SD card does not "Click" when in place. So initially in fear of not pushing it to far down or breaking it, i did not push it all the way and the computer did not recognize it.I wanted to use it as a BD Live storage for my Sony Bluray player S590 but the player did not recognize this device. Its not really this device's fault though.

MoblieMate MicroSD
This product worked great, and now I have it for future use if I need to move photos from any ancient phone with no USB connection functionality to a computer. I emailed all my photos from my old phone to myself before activating my new Nokia Lumia 900 phone -- or so I thought. The emails never went thru and then I had no way to access those photos. This little gadget worked like a charm. Only negative was the shipping from Hong Kong took 25 days, but it was worth the wait. And very inexpensive!

Works great for on the go use.
If you ever for some reason dont want to use your phones cable to hook to your computer this little device makes it simple to remove the memory card and just upload what ever you want straight to it. Pros: The keychain attachment is by far the most useful part about it since you never know when you'll want to pop out your memory card and upload something somewhere when you dont have your phones usb cable with you. Cons: Like i've already stated, this really doesn't have a purpose if you dont plan on transferring data anytime soon.
