★Chiltepin SONORA CHILO the Sonoran gift to the world★ Due to its great value in Sonora it is known as "red gold" Although it has a reputation for being very spicy, it has actually only been rated at 100 to 200 thousand degrees on the Scoville scale - for a point of comparison, the habanero pepper has a rating between 350 and 580 thousand degrees. Whether with machaca, in a bean taco, in a menudo or a classic aguachile from the Northwest coast, chiltepín is an ingredient that not only adds a bit of heat to the dishes, but is also part of the identity of the region. To grind a chiltepin it is only necessary to crush it with something, it can be a napkin or directly with the hand, but with the fear that it will enchile, for connoisseurs there is the chiltepinero, a tool specifically created to perform this action.

Low quality
I honestly didn't think the store would sell a low quality product but as you can see in the picture, the chiltepins are old and dried up. While they normally have a 1 to 2 year shelf life, this ones are only good for 7 months per its tag.The Chile's are too dry and old. Their flavor isn't what I know chiltepins taste like.

Great product
The product itself was perfect Chiltepin. I had ordered 2 what I thought to be separate bags but they came in one big unlabeled bag. Not a big deal but threw me for a loop. Great product though.

Old cheltepins received
These peppers are so old they are pale. Nothing like the picture. First, let me tell you, my family is from Sonora and we eat the cheltepins all the time. Is this why they have it as non-refundable? Poor quality, old and crushed.
