Instantly relieved horrible pain from my 2003 neck injury
I was in a pretty bad car accident in 2003 that resulted in whiplash. I was an active, fit young man working construction, and figured I'd heal quick, on my own... My job required me to look over my shoulder hundreds of times a day, which I could no longer do without extreme pain. So, I did chiro/massage for years which helped with the pain and maintaining mobility so I could continue working. I eventually quit going to the chiro as the issue seemed resolved. Now in my middle-40's, the extreme tension/pain has slowly returned, increasing to an unbearable level, leaving me very desperate for a solution. Sleep is difficult, my neck is mostly immobile, the pain has me contemplating narcotics, it feels as if my vertebrae are starting to fuse together, and the pain has taken over my life/happiness. I have tried several devices, and daily attempts to stretch/roll through the pain are to no avail.THEN I BOUGHT THIS... Within minutes of opening the box, I experienced mobility and pain relief for the first time in YEARS! Literally instant relief! I now stretch my neck once every week or so (because the neck tension does eventually return), and not only is my neck more mobile/flexible than ever, but now I can focus on family and work instead of obsessing over my excruciating neck pain. I am now able to do preventative maintenance neck stretches that I could not do before getting this device. This probably isn't for everyone, and each individual will need to troubleshoot their own personal adjustments with this device. Most of the reviews complaining about the fitment (choking, jaw pressure, etc) are totally adjustable by the user, lol. (Example: you don't NEED to inflate the air bladder all the way, tighten the tensioner all the way, or raise the extenders up all the way; just find the sweet spots.) For me, this has been the single best quality of life improvement purchase ever. I've been using this for several months now and highly recommend.

Digs into the clavicles
I’ve been battling a cervical radiculopathy in the C7 region since last summer. I’ve tried stretching, hot and cold therapy as well as massage but they had little effect. I want to exhaust all non-invasive options before consulting with a neurologist. I don’t really have any pain, more numbness and itching on the arm and hand. I started seeing a chiropractor and a traction device was on of the things she suggested. I normally take forever reading reviews on Amazon before pulling the trigger on a purchase. While I did read several reviews this time it seemed like the Neck Air Traction device had fairly positive reviews. Its construction feels solid and setup was easy to follow. I have yet to try the air inflation option as it does a decent job of stretching the neck by adjusting the knobs alone. The biggest complaint I have is that the padding under the shoulder area isn’t sufficient. It digs into the clavicles on both sides and I need to put additional padding under it otherwise it becomes uncomfortable after just a few minutes of use. The additional padding helps, but it also makes it a bit more difficult to get the rear neck piece locked into place. I’ve only been using it now for the past week, so I’ll wait a couple more weeks to see if it results in any relief.

Neck problems slowly disappearing
I was going to the chiropractor constantly to try to fix my neck, couldn't get my doctor to look at it. The pain has been driving me insane for two years but nothing I did seemed to help. I've bought a lot of chronic pain things on Amazon like a massager, and electro shock thing, and a neck stretcher. Nothing helped in the long term, so I decided to try this and let me say that it's perfect. After a few months of easing into it and stretching my neck, I happened to lean forward to pick something up while wearing the device. When I did I felt my entire neck make these little pops and I felt movement. Then I felt sensation rush into my arms, I apparently had lost some feeling a while back but I didn't realize until I felt it rushing back. I felt an entire wave of relief and when I took the device off I found that the curve of my neck was totally restored. That doesn't necessarily mean it's fixed, Im still stretching. But I haven't had this much improvement even with professional help. Now I'm no doctor, I'm not trying to offer medical information. This is just my personal experience.

This unit is a complete waste
Unfortunately, I foolishly didn't try it until after the return period was up so here I sit with a piece of garbage. First, your neck needs to be teeny. Second, the plastic dials are cheap and third, when I did get the device over someone else's head (not happy in doing so), there was little traction experienced at all. Don't waste your money! I also had the same experience with the low back traction belt...useless.

Not for thicker folks
It's awkward AF to put on for the first time...but I think alot of that will depend on one's neck size. Mine's on the thick side, so the collar set on it's largest setting just fits. The collar hinges on the left and snaps closed on the right. The collar hook came with a velcro tab to pull on, I struggled with it enough to snapped that tab so I tied a small bit of nylon line onto it. Have the loop is actually more useful than the tab it came with as it gives me better leverage and makes it easier to use my left hand to pull the collar while the right hand lines up the hook and peg.One you have it on there is knob on the back to tighten it. Kind of like a hard hat harness. There is a bladder on the back to help pull the vertabrae apart on that side. The risers are under the chin. Since the lift is from the chin rather than the base of the skull it tends to tilt your head back a bit, unlike the tiered bladder type that tends to push your head forward. It's effective but I don't really like the backward tilt. Your comfort may vary depending upon what pain your targeting. While I found it hard to get on, it's very quick to raise and lower since it's just a matter of turning knobs. The risers have 5 heights. At full height it lifts 1.5" from the lowest setting. Since it tilts your head back slightly, found it more comfortable to sit leaning forward a bit to help counter that tilt.If you have the $15-ish inflatable bladder type and only wear it occassionally, I'd stick with that. If you have to do traction for extended periods, and need the extra support (it imobilizes your neck), and aren't too thick, than this is a good but pricier option. The photo shows the collar locking loop and the nylon line I put in place the velco tab it came with.
