Conventional Use Fishing in tight quarters with very limited back cast room. The short heavy head facilitates quick loading and efficient turn over when using weighted flies, split shot and strike indicators. The short rear taper makes roll casting and shooting line easy and lends itself to the various single hand spey casts. The heavy head "digs" in the water surface, slowing the line speed, in the typical down and across presentation, making it ideal for swinging soft hackles or stripping streamers. Switch use The short head on the Ambush line makes it the ideal fly line for switch rods. Rule of thumb when selecting a line, is to use 3 line weight sizes above the rod weight. For example, a 5wt switch rod would take an 8wt Ambush line or head. A 7wt switch rod would load well with the 10wt Ambush. If you are going to primarily overhead cast with a switch rod, then go just 2 line sizes above the rod weight(7wt Ambush on a 5wt switch rod). Scandi use If you choose to use the Scandi or underhand style of casting, select an Ambush line 3 sizes above your rod weight. Poly leaders (all densities) work exceptionally well on Ambush lines. Total length of your poly leader should be 1 to 1.5 times the length of your rod (including tippet). Poly leaders, because of their similar taper to the Ambush line, tend to increase the overall head length of the Ambush, promoting longer turnover time and increase casting distance.

Also good on a 3wt single hander
Got one for my slowish action 6'6" 3wt fly rod and it quickly became my favorite rig to cast. Roll casting into the wind was no problem after a little practice.Overhand casting past 50 feet was no problem. Presentation is loud and splashy for long casts so I wouldnt use it for casting to spooky carp or trout more than 20 or 30ft away.It certainly helped cast bigger flies and the fluorescent shooting head glows well with UV illumination and makes casting at night a real pleasure.

Excellent!
I use the 5wt on a 5 weight rod. My home streams are difficult to wade and there is no room for overhead casts. With this line, I can cover the water using roll casts or Spey casts. This line performs admirably. Highly recommended.

Follow the recommended line sizes
What can I say about this line. It's unbelievable, it casts like a rocket. I use it on my 11' 10 weight switch rod. It can be casted like regular fly line double haul technique. Make sure you follow the recommendations and go 2 to 3 sizes bigger than your rod

love this line
I purchased this for an 11' switch rod to chase salmon and steelhead on the coast. It casts amazingly! Effortlessly punches out 70' of line with a simple roll cast, love this line! Also have it on my 8wt single handed rod, same great effect. I'm building a 5wt switch rod and will line it with the 7 or 8wt version Definitely recommend this line in any weight
