BuyDBest(TM) Personal Sound Amplifier

Great price, took a while to get here but within the acceptable shipping date. Product is great my friend is kind of hard of hearing so I got her this. She loves it. I tried it out you could use it to spy on someone in the other room if you wanted to. It's a neat little device. Takes AAA batteries and has a standard head phones jack.

The BuyDBest (TM) PersonalThis item was purchased for my wife and she said the ear bud that came with the item is very screechy with lots of statics. Fortunately she had a different ear bud which worked fine with the item. She previously bought one before and it sometimes work okay, but found that the original AAA battery that comes with the BuyDBest(TM) Personal Sound Amplifier is slightly a bit smaller than the American AAA batteries...so she has to remove the covering of the battery when using the American battery.

I have tried a hearing aid and found it improved my hearing only 15%. When I complained to my audiologist, she said that was all they could do. With Listen up the large kind with the wires in both ears, I can hear 75% more. I was dissatisfied with the smaller version of Listen up because it seemed to reduce the amount I could hear. I think probably the larger the better in this case. Thank you for making Listen Up. We had visited someone older in a group situation and she tried on my Listen up and really wanted one. It doesn't fit all people and sometimes a hearing aid may do a better job but not for me. I admit I am somewhat deaf and feel we need to in order to take part in the world around us. Then we can find out what people are saying much more easily.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, IT DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE A STAR, I KIND OF IGNORED OTHER CUSTOMERS REVIEWS JUST TO TRY IT FOR MYSELF. IT CAN'T EVEN AMPLIFY ANYTHING, NOT EVEN WITHIN 10 FEET, I WANT MY MONEY BACK. ALL YOU HEAR IS A BUNCH OF NOISE. NOBODY BUY THIS PRODUCT, PLEASE I BEG YOU.

I purchased the Ontel "Listen Up" for my Dad, who has trouble hearing conversations and the TV. The poor design and quality of the device make it not worth buying. It is cheaper to throw it away ($15) than to ship it back ($21). The mic is placed on the top of the device, close to the person's mouth that is using it (magnifying their voice much louder that anything they are listening to). The device must be held and pointed toward the sound to be amplified. The volume must be turned to max to amplify the TV or the voice of anyone sitting more than a few feet away. At max volume, the slightest sound near the device or touching it results in painfully loud noises in the ear phones. Adjusting the volume switch usually produces a loud, squealing noise, also very painful to the ears. Dad has been using it for 2 weeks now, but we are looking for a better device.

The "Listen Up" device is excellent. I purchased several. I plan to make a gift for a friend with one and I gave two to my mother-in-law. We were to attend a women's conference and I knew she was having trouble keeping a battery in one of her hearing aids and would not wear it. This device takes a AAA battery (included with the product) and works well with the TV or in a crowd. I knew we would have a great event when I could speak quietly in the car (where I usually had to yell to get her to hear and understand me) and she said she heard everything well during the conference. She has one to use at home with the TV or when she has guests and one to carry with her at all times. Wonderful product but I had to go on-line to find it.

Now in my mid-70's, and have been using Listen Up since the mid-90's. First diagnosed with hearing loss in grammar school, but it didn't seem to be a real problem until about 1975. That's when the ringing began. Thousands of dollarsfor "hearing aids" over the next 20 years or so.Then I saw an ad for Listen Up on the internet and WOW! The two I recentlypurchased on-line are numbers 3 and 4. So, in terms of dollars per year, Ican't wait for the rest of the world to catch up. That's RIGHT:"CATCH UP WITH LISTEN UP!"It has truly been a miracle. Then too, I buy smaller ear pieces for a better fit.But, the quality of sound is like being on stage, pickin' 'n' grinnin', withthousand dollar speakers less than two feet in front of me. got this for my uncle sence he's kinda old & likes to use hearing aids. i over heard him say i wish i can find somthing i can that doesnt cost much in batteries. ( hearing aid batteries cost too much money)when it came in the mail & hooked it up and all he was so happy and said i can hear better with this then with a hearing aid..he didnt like the ear buds that came with it so he went out & bought a cheap pair of head phones.. get for a person that you got to yell at or has the tv up to loud.
