Once I got it up, I really liked the result. My problem was getting it up. I can't blame the manufacturer for the trouble I had getting the old hardware down or even not giving me a heads up on problems I would encounter doing a 100+ year old window frame. My problems were due to the special needs of my old window. First, I needed to drill extra large pilot holes for the very hard oak wood in my window frames. Next, I had issues with clearance on the brackets in using my electric screwdriver -- I had to use a extra long, skinny bit to do it. Next, I had similar clearance problems with that little plastic draw "string" holder. Last, instead of just "warning" that it has to be level (i.e. true horizontal), give some pointers on how to do that. I have "some" (old) experience in doing handywork, but now that I'm older with balance, vision, and hand problems, not to mention I had no one to help me old the blind when measuring, and old windows are typically not that level. Even though I did the "outside" mount, they are very dark.

I have old wood frame Anderson windows. The corners are metal so my drill bit wouldn't go thru. Had to buy new drill bits that go thru metal. Oh how I hate home repairs.

I really like this window roller shade. They are 100% black out. I will be buying more for the entire house.

I purchased 2 of these for the sidelights of my front door in order to have privacy at night. They are super easy to install, fit perfectly , and block out light. They aren't especially attractive , in my opinion, but they roll up and down easily and serve the purpose.

Easily to assemble. Quality material. The black out on the dark gray is amazing (which, if you work nights, you will appreciate). The light gray also blocks a lot of light, and no complaints-but if you are looking to really darken your room, the dark gray is the way to go.

It covers for what I was looking for on my window and helps keep the heat down. No light gets through the sheet, just around where it doesn't cover.

Based on the reviews, I had somewhat high expectations from this roller shades. I ordered 3 rollers, 2 for living windows and 1 for bedroom. I got the one for bedroom and just done installing them. I did install perfectly to a millimeter precision (45 7/8") so it's very snuggly and doesn't come off. However, I am disappointed with the overall quality of the roller and particularly with the material which is somewhat hard vinyl. The key issue are:1) it gets dented if touched or bent out of it's regular role up/down function. so, kinda gets creased which will eventually start breaking. see it in the picture.2) it retains the rolled up shape to a certain degree when rolled down. so, the weight at the bottom isn't enough for this hard material.3) during the install and a few roll ups/downs, the side edges started shading threads. this is particularly concerning as it will wear out this roller soon with subsequent usage.4) the brackets that go into the roller are very loose and doesn't stay in. this is bit of a pain during install as it fell down a few times with tilts. post install, the chain side bracket continue to move forward and backward and doesn't stay at it's place. so, the chain pull isn't entirely vertical.5) the brackets themselves aren't entirely leveled and it creates a bit of a gap on one side at the top of the roller. see it in the picture. this causes the shade to be unleveled on one side.with that said, i will definitely return the rest of the 2 rollers that are currently in transit. and i may uninstall and return this too if i find a better roller.i think the price is reflective of the quality. if you're on the budget then this is okay. otherwise i do not recommend buying this.

Blocks a lot of light. Some light comes through on the sides, but with a good set of black out curtains over them it will be like night time during the day in your room. Helps cool off my room fast, and I need that where I live. Going to get more for another window of mine. :)
