You MUSH make ROOM in your game collection for MORELS!
My husband and I love board games.. I wanted to get him one for Christmas, but couldn't spend the usual 50-60 bucks. I saw Morels and the price was right..besides..my husband HATES eating mushrooms...so it was a fun joke...wanna play the mushroom game??!! Ha ha..We LOVE this game! I won the first 6 games...until he got evil and started selling mushrooms for sticks and taking all the baskets so I was stuck with just one basket... A fun two player quick game, 20-30 mins tops usually. A very quick paced game once you play through a round or two, the worst part is having to move the cards when they are lined up in a line. Husband found online a suggestion to put cards in a circle and rotate them out that way.. we play it that way now and it was so much faster and easier not having to rotate every card every round. Simple play style- the object is to harvest mushrooms using the cards in your hand, in the field (6 rotating cards) while getting baskets that let you carry more cards in your hands (very important!) while picking up grills to cook your mushrooms and possibly selecting butter or cider to make your mushroom dish taste better (read: MORE POINTS!) The game requires you to make tough decisions on whether you want a certain item now or you can wait until it goes into decay-where your opponent might take them before your next turn. Fast paced and exciting- I LOVE the game...not just because I beat the tar out of my hubby 6 times...cause he got me back that 7th game...but because its a quick-learned game, that has strategy and the cards are gorgeous- the artist did an amazing job! We have a lot of board games/card games- (Ticket to Ride/Carcassonne/Bohnanza/Mamma Mia/Too many Cooks and many more) and we didn't want another of the same old same old game..this is creative, I think its the only mushroom game out there--plus you learn about all kinds of mushrooms, and heck if you like mushrooms, that's a good thing!

This game puts the fun in fungi!
I read about this game somewhere and wanted to gift it to my husband at Christmas but sadly it was sold out. So just before Valentine’s Day I checked again and was able to buy it. We played it that night and almost every night since. It is an awesome two player game that you can develop new strategies for over time. I’ll admit the rules and gameplay were a little challenging at first. We watched two videos and midway through my husband asked if this was a practical joke. But once we started playing we quickly picked it up. The game goes pretty quickly - so much so that we usually play three rounds just because it’s that fun. It’s the perfect combination of challenging and relaxing. We just ordered the expansion pack which also looks confusing at first but looking forward to adding another dimension to this addictive little game.

You mean to tell me... I'm going to become obsessed with... foraging for mushrooms?
We first came across Morels at a board game cafe and in all honestly gave the girl at the counter a look like she'd sprouted a second head when she first told us this was the game for us. What is this? Putting me out to pasture to forage for fungi? Turns out (as it always does) that the person at the shop knew what she was talking about so we paid the rental fee, sat down and proceeded to shut the place down playing this highly-portable and easy-to-learn competitive deck building game. It moves pretty quickly once you get the basics down and has a fun variety of "gotchas" with some strategy on how bullish you want to be for that "triple bonus-mega-points" option or if you want to find a way to subvert that option for your opponent :) Also, tried to find it locally and was pleasantly surprised to find out the maker of the game really does this as a passion project and it was sold out everywhere for months! Finally was able to get a copy via Amazon and have been enjoying it thoroughly since!

Wonderful game with a unique theme
I was looking for an easy-to-learn, two-player game that could act not only as a filler game for my small gaming group, but also as something that I could play with my wife. She's not keen on many modern board games, but the theme of Morels, combined with what seemed like a fairly uncomplicated rule set, looked like it might appeal to her. I'm happy to report that it did. After a handful of plays, everyone who has tried Morels with me has enjoyed it. Gameplay is elegant and flows well, and it allows for light to medium strategy and planning. The art is beautiful, too; the various settings for the different mushroom types, as well as the differences between day and night cards, shows great attention to detail and passion for the subject matter. The only downside of gameplay is that it gets a little fiddly, continuously having to shift the cards on the table to the right as new ones are revealed. I can't think of a different mechanic that would work better (although I have heard of a alternative circular layout), but it does tend to bog down play ever so slightly. I also wish that the game came with the plastic foraging sticks and frying pans that were made available at some game conventions. For a game so steeped in theme, having those upgraded components in the baseline package would have put it over the top. All in all, Morels is a tasty two-player game that brings a one-of-a-kind theme to the gaming table. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next from Two Lanterns Games. (Also, if you want a more in-depth look into the design process for Morels, I recommend checking out the Two Lanterns website. I enjoy the game's theme even more after reading about the love and research that went into it.)

Lots of fun and a most beautiful game!
So glad I bought this. The artwork is wonderfully done and setup and play is very easy to learn. I like how there are extra additions to keep it interesting. Even more fun if you are a fan of mushrooms - makes you hungry! :) I'm not sure why everyone is confused by the Destroying Angel. We didn't find it too hard to figure it out. The only feedback with it I have for the maker is I wish it lived up to its hype of "the player experiencing such pain" when it's played. The detailed description in the rules really was well written, but didn't actually come through in play. It really wasn't all that scary or painful when it's in play. It's just an inconvenience. It's also easy to avoid which makes it less fun. But that's the only negative I have for the game. I think much more could have been done with that element. It would be cool to see an expansion pack for multiple players. Maybe someday!

Best 2 player board game!
This is the best 2 player board game I have played! We have lots of games and if you are looking for a 2 player game this is the perfect blend of simple enough to learn fast, doesn’t play too long (around 30 min or less), and it has enough variety and strategy to make it very repeatable. I highly recommend!

Best choice I made for a 2-player game
Best gaming choice I made for a 2-player game with my girlfriend. Great theme and execution. Pros Easy to learn, but difficult to master. It is comfortably balanced and quick. Different strategies will lead to different results. This leads to high replaybaility. Brilliant art and theme. Price is fair. Cons Some of the risk-taking could be better. The bad mushroom card is easy to avoid. I wish there was some kind of board or way to move the cards more easily rather than having to keep
