Short chapters
It was a hard book to get into because of the short chapters but once you got 1/2 way I didn’t want to put the book down.

Very well written
As a domestic violence survivor, I greatly appreciated the care and accuracy of this book. I waited weeks before finally deciding to buy and read it because I was scared of being triggered. While it was an intense read, I felt so heard and validated by the two main characters' inner dialogue. I don't know how much experience the author has had with domestic abuse, but the intimidation and manipulation, the feeling of terror, and the ways victims find to cope are all so accurate. This novel should be given an award for the way it raises awareness. The signs are always there, and so so often it's very obvious but people don't care enough to see it, or they've never imagined something that awful and they just don't know any better. If I could meet Vincent Ralph, I would shake his hand and tell him thank you for representing domestic violence victims and raising awareness for others so that the cycle can stop

Amazing storyline!!
This book was sitting on my shelf for months before I decided to actually read it but once I started reading it I couldn’t stop. Right when I thought I had it figured out, there was a new plot twist that kept me on my toes. The chapters are very short, some even being one or two pages but they all end with a line that keeps you wanting more. It’s so hard to put down. I ended up reading the book in two days and I am now looking for another book my Vincent Ralph because his writing is that good.

Lock the Doors review
When I was growing up, YA consisted of The Babysitter's Club and Goosebumps. So needless to say, I wasn't interested in reading any of that. By age 10, I was reading Stephen King. Then I came across this new brand of YA in which teenagers are depicted as complex, fully formed people with real problems outside of high School drama. And I was hooked. Lock the Doors is as suspenseful as any adult mystery thriller I've read. It's a deep, shocking plot with heartbreaking twists and turns. I'm in mid-fifties, and I love this YA book! I can't wait to shamelessly hunt for more like it.

Whoa- PSYCHO neighbor alert
Loved this book and the only reason I gave it 4 stars because at some parts in the beginning I felt it was a little repetitious but then the story really started to speed up towards the middle and I was hooked. I couldn't believe the story when it switched to the other characters perspective, and I felt myself unable to put the book down because I just had to know what had happened and what was going to be done about it! One of the other things I loved was how Tom and his mother overcame the hardships from their past to find a real man to be the leader in the home. My heart went out for Amy. Very well done and out of the ordinary plot that I definitely recommend.

Couldn’t put it down
Another thriller from new author Vincent Ralph and even better than his first novel ‘Are You Watching.’ Like all the best thrillers, it keeps the reader gripped throughout, drip feeding bits of information with each chapter. Then just when you think you know where the plot is going, it takes you in a completely different direction. In a brilliant twist, you are suddenly told the story from another character’s point of view, which answers some of the questions and poses others.Apart from the intriguing plot, this book also looks at a number of other issues - domestic violence, mental health, family dynamics. These issues are dealt with sensitively but not to the extent that they become the central focus of the story.A book aimed at young adults, it hits all the right notes. Fast moving plot, short punchy chapters, rounded characters, familiar situations. As a former librarian I would review this book as a recommended purchase for any library - public or school. As a lover of a good read, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gripping thriller with a really emotional centre
I read this book in a day. I had to know the answers to the central mystery. And the answers haunted me for days. But although this is undoubtedly a thriller the central character, a teenager with anxiety, is so beautifully depicted that I was rooting for his happiness and despairing when things went wrong for him just as much as i was interested in the the mystery. And then the novel takes a daring twist.... but I won't say anymore.I highly recommend this book. I've already bought a copy for a friend so we can talk about it!

What a great read! Not the genre I usually go for but a friend recommended this book to me and so glad a gave it a go. The story kept me guessing until the very end. Liked it so much that I have now ordered the author's first book 'are you watching?'.
