Aside from being a first class puzzle,the box by itself is a nice looking... gift, presentation,.. stash,.. treasure box,.. etc. * The boxes finish is, french polish , slightly distressed and smoothly waxed with verdigris brass accents. * Exterior dimensions 4 x 4 x 4 1/2" ; interior 3 x 3 x 3". * The puzzle design, mechanism is a modern take on a series gates and blocks, (admittedly not a new concept, 18th Dynasty Egypt c. 3150 BC), but with a twist, that is more of a misdirection than manipulation. If the dodge is undetected the box will not open, save using an ax. * The solution is difficult the first time but, once solved and opened repetition is easily accomplished. * The box is made from old reclaimed wood, decorated on top with a peculiar piece of very old , stone like wood. * Every box is numbered, signed and dated. * Directions reluctantly included.

Fun and well-made puzzle box
I love puzzle boxes, I have 16 in my little collection. This was my first one from this maker, and I genuinely enjoyed it. Very deceptive, with false clues and many steps required to solve. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and was a pleasure to explore as I solved it.
