A sweet and loving book
I liked everything about this book. I just couldn't put it down. I loved that you get both the characters perspectives. I have to say I would love to travel to Cornwall. It sounds amazing. For some reason many of the books, I read, seem to be set in this area. This book is full of emotion and so charming. Thank You Miranda for another great read. I have each and every one of your books and adore them all.

Lovely book
Really enjoyed this book about Seren and Jack .... their lives, loves, and losses. This is a very well put together story of two lives (plus Jack's daughter) brought together because of family losses and the sea and what it has to offer.

Magical
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is a gorgeous story about love, family and hope. But it's also a very real portrayal of loss and grief. Both main characters, Seren and Jack, have lost someone and are trying to re-build their lives again. It's impossible not to warm up to such good-hearted and inspiring characters and soon you find yourself rooting for them and sharing both their joys and disappointments.I fell a bit in love with Jack myself. He was such a fantastic dad to Nessie. You could tell his world orbited around this little girl and he managed to make every little thing magical for her. I enjoyed immensely following them to the beach, while they built their unfinished sea glass stars for the mermaids. This story really reminded me how to appreciate the little things and the joy they bring. For Seren, finding those unfinished stars gave her hope in a very dark moment of her life. In fact, every time I pick a book by Miranda Dickinson I end up feeling happier and really hopeful about the future.I really liked how the story unfolded and the direction it took. It was a real treat to see these characters and their families and friends touched by the magic of this story. Definitely a highly recommended story to enjoy this summer. Small warning, I'm pretty sure you'll want to book a holiday in St Ives as soon as you've finished reading it!

Absorbing, encouraging, and delightfully affecting!
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is an astute, heartwarming tale that sweeps you away to the idyllic, seaside town of St Ives and into the lives of Seren, a young woman grieving the loss of her father and struggling to save the business he left behind, and Jack, a single, unemployed father focused on raising his seven-year-old daughter and providing her with love, attention, and security. The prose is winsome and polished. The characters are authentic, optimistic, and engaging. And the plot told from alternating perspectives is an alluring tale about loss, life, love, heartache, grit, hope, family, friendship, community, sand, sea, self-discovery, beautiful jewelry, moving on, and finding the one.Overall, Somewhere Beyond the Sea is an evocative, touching, romantic tale by Dickinson that reminds us that sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most and magic can truly be found everywhere.

It was ok
The plot was good, but I would have liked more interaction between the two protagonists. They met in the half of the book and fell in love too soon.

Loved this from start to finish
Over the years Miranda Dickinson has become one of my go-to authors whose books I will pick up to read without even reading the blurb as I know that when I read one of her books I will find characters I will fall in love with and stories full of heart. And Somewhere Beyond the Sea is no different as we meet Seren and Jack, two strangers who have never met but have more in common than they can ever imagine.I instantly knew that this was a story that was going to be one that I would fall in love with from the opening chapter when we first meet Seren as she's taking a walk with her dog on a deserted beach and discovers the incomplete seaglass star that Jack and his seven year old daughter Nessie didn't manage to complete that she decides to finish. I found myself like Seren and Jack drawn in wanting to discover the next star as the stars got more elaborate with notes and gifts being left, to see the will they/won't they ever find out who the other star maker is play out. Both Jack and Seren seemed to get a lift from the making of the stars as both had outside pressures that they were dealing with and those few moments of escapism on the beach seem to give them a little hope. The story is told in alternate chapters from Seren and Jack so you really get to see both sides of the cat and mouse game that is played, first with the building and completing of the stars on the beach and then on the opposing sides of a community debate regarding the planned proposal to demolish and redevlop a local landmark that once belonged to Elinor Crane, a renowned astronomist. Both Seren and Jack are dealing with grief and the consequences of losing someone from their lives, Seren has taken on the burden of carrying on her father's struggling business whereas Jack has had to sell his house and relocate following the sudden death of his wife leaving him to bring up Nessie on his own.The campaign to save the local Parsonage was her father's idea and one that the locals have asked Seren to continue with the campaign, whereas for Jack it's an opportunity for a paid job to enable him to provide for Nessie. Although his boss is known for his knock em up properties, Jack has a reputation for using locally-sourced natural materials so he hopes to be able to do justice to the redevelopment that will respect the heritage of the property.Despite Cornwall only being a couple of hours away from where I live I have only ever been there once, and never to the St. Ives area, but the descriptive writing within the pages of this book really gave me a sense of feel for the area, what it's like in the up and down seasons, and made me want to discover a seaglass star myself... I know that Seren and Jack are only characters in this book so I probably wouldn't find one but you never know. This really was a magical, heart-warmer of a story, one that had me feeling all the feels as I became a cheerleader for Seren and Jack. It's a story of love, hope and dreams that makes it the perfect Summer read so make sure you pick up a copy, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Loved this book - if you love Cornwall then you must read this!
A beautiful story about two lonely characters living in and around St Ives. I loved the reference to the sea glass and all the wonder of living by the sea… It is certainly one story I won’t forget any time soon.

A feel good romance
Set in the St. Ives area of Cornwall, which will be familiar to many readers, this is a pleasant novel with many misunderstandings to extend the guy meets girl and they fall in love story.
