How to Look at and Understand Great Art

This is NOT a book on World War One, as stated.

Even though Dr. Hirsh mispronounces word after word, this is an outstanding set of DVDs to learn art history and interpretation. I learned a lot, and feel more prepared to take my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards component one test. Thank you!

I bought this as a birthday gift for my wife. She loves it. However, I am hard of hearing, and there was no guidebook included with the DVD: just a case with 6 DVDs in it. When I contacted Great Courses, they wrote back that "the guidebook should be shrinkwrapped to the back of the DVD case". No such luck here. And there are no subtitles for the lectures. So I can't enjoy the course with my wife. I am very disappointed.

I enjoyed my library course very much and purchased the DVD/ book set so I can view it whenever I want. The professor is friendly and has an excellent presentation. The books she suggests in the bibliography are very good also.

A very professional series - I bought this for our Seniors' Centre Art Group and we watch a lecture or 2 at a time and discuss them - they are a highlight to our monthly critique day.

This is truly a great course! I highly recommend it - it was worth every penny.
