After a much frustrating search for one, I'm shocked this one works REALLY well! Despite the negative reviews...
I was heart-broken when my cassette adapter died but it was to be expected since it lasted me about 4-5 years. I instantly began searching on Amazon and it was a bit difficult to make a decision. I saw the #1 best seller but it got a lot of bad reviews, and it was a dollar or two more than this one which had a bit more positive reviews. When I made the decision to give it a shot and 2 days later, it came, I was crossing my fingers that it wouldn't make a clicking noise, it wouldn't do some odd rewind as many of the other reviewers have posted, and that clear, nice, sound would come out.I was really, REALLY surprised that not only did it work, (I drive a 95 Toyota Corolla and I connect the tape to my Galaxy S6) but it sounded AMAZING! It conveys music on all speakers (my previous one only did it on the right side...I thought it had been my car). It has no clicking noise whatsoever. Like, nada. I can put the volume on blast and it still sounds clear and really good. (Don't worry, I respect other drivers so I don't super blast my music).I'm truly soo happy with my purchase. This was one of those where I was prepared for it to be a cheap and crappy product purchase or simply just doable. It has definitely surpassed both. I don't understand why it has given others problems; perhaps its the car or device. Or maybe I have yet to encounter a problem. But so far it's going along just fine: worked on the first try; clear, amazing sound; and it didn't break my wallet. :)

Same as it ever was
Hot Darn! Just like I remember them! Expert 20th century craftsmanship. This is exactly the same headphone adapter I purchased many years ago at the store that rhymes with "Badio Crack". And this one works just as mediocre! I was not about to put a new radio into my winter beater. And now, with the help of a lightning to headphone adapter, I can now rock out like it is 1996. Sure the sound is not fantastic. But if you are rocking a cassette player in your ride, you know those speakers are blown anyway.I thought about getting of of the new fangled bluetooth cassette adapters, but who needs something else to charge. Plus then I wouldn't have this sleek black cord coming out of the obsolete orifice in my dash board.Radio wont get reception. Cd's wont play. DOES NOT MATTER! Keep on keeping on with the cassette adapter made to give you moderate enjoyment.. And rock out with your... nevermind.

Genuine, Absolute, Garbage.
Bought this thinking that, since it's RCA, it must be good, right? Wrong. Straight out of the box, I plug it into my car's cassette and the player rejects it. Turns out there's protective tape on the contact point that they neglect to tell you about, but whatever. I can appreciate wanting to protect the product for the consumer. Except for the fact that the tape is obnoxious to remove, especially if you don't want to scratch the contact point. I get the tape off and put it in. Success! Now time to plug it into my phone. Now comes the next issue- the plastic surrounding the plug is too fat for it to go into most phone case aux holes. Oh, you don't like the idea of leaving your phone naked and defenseless? This adapter thinks you can get bent. So after removing my case, I plug this wretched thing into my phone. And what do I hear? My music, weakly coming out of my speakers. It sounds tinny and dim- not much in the way of low frequencies with this. I'm far from an audiophile, and even I knew the sound quality was garbage. Furthermore, you know when your headphones get old, and they start making that static noise when you touch the wire or bend it a certain way? Yeah, this has that issue straight out of the box. A brand new adapter has the same issue as my aging one. Pathetic. As a final slap in the face, it's INELIGIBLE FOR RETURNS. As if they knew that these abominations were garbage, and had to get rid of them as quickly as possible. RCA should act more ethically than this.

Good
Good quality for the price. Works better than the bluetooth option

Sounds great
I've been using this adapter for 2 weeks now, and it's working great with my '98 Corolla. The sound quality is amazing, it's full stereo and it's got a nice flat response. I've wasted some time and money on cheaper fake-tapes but they'd always do something weird like drop out high frequencies, hiss, or muffle. It sounds like using an aux cable, except it's got that usual tape adapter thing where you can't turn your player too loud or it only amplifies the low frequencies.Objectively: stereo, barely loses any definition, can not make a tape deck respond like a 3.5mm jack but can make it sound like one, not the quietest mechanism, doesn't come in beige or tan, cable is too long/long enough/just right (2 or 3ft), works every time in my case.

First purchase was great. Second one, not so much.
Three stars because I purchased this item previously and it worked perfectly for years. I recently had to replace it and the new one is horrible. Decided to split the difference. The volume on this new one is way too low. Even with my phone volume at max I have to turn the volume on my car radio almost all the way up for it to have a normal volume level. The last one I had was the opposite. I never turned my phone volume all the way up and it was still pretty loud. I also think there may be a short because the slightest touch or bump in the road causes the sound to go in and out. I tried to return it because there must be something wrong with it but when I went through the return process on amazon it gave me a notification that this item wasn't eligible for return. It's only been 2 weeks so the seller must not accept returns. Too bad.

Great cassette adapter
Much better than the Monster Cable one. Clean, no static, and good volume.

Amazing bang for your buck; Unparalleled sound quality
To play music in your car that doesn't have AUX/Bluetooth, this is the best bang for your buck with great sound quality. You have near CD quality playing out of your speakers. If you have some kind of hissing/static/radio noise, make sure you lower the volume on your phone/music player. Do not ever exceed 2/3rds volume, in fact I suggest staying at phone volume of 50% for optimal sound quality, and then adjusting volume with your car stereo. This way, you don't overload your car audio unit and speakers, and avoid the breakdown in quality that occurs at higher volumes from your media player. With many options that can cost so much more, ranging from a $30 FM Transmitter, $60 Bluetooth Cassette adapters, to $600 FM Modulators, this actually has the best sound quality of all of these. These other reviews are ridiculous. "wire broke after 2 years of use, piece of garbage." Are you kidding me? For $10, you can't beat it, and you might as well just buy 3 or 4 of these so that when it does break down on you, all you gotta do is pop in a new one.

worked for one week and died then
Bought it roughly a week ago and was working fine at the beginning. The audio quality is ok even tho that just the left side of my car was playing music with it. But now it just died and it is not working anymore! If I insert the cassette player it just pops out after 10 seconds and that's it.Would definitely not recommend to buy!

It's not like amazing sound
This thing is a life changer, I drive a 2001 buick and all the radio stations were fuzzy, until I got this, now I can listen to whatever I want! It's not like amazing sound, but that could be my car since it's so old, but it was still way better than I expected. There was one day that it kept ejecting on me, but it happened only that day and hasn't happened since so I think it was my car, not the product. The cord is super long which is nice because i can keep my phone in the cup holder or the passenger can use it as well, and it reaches to the back pretty well too.Super good, not expensive, it's so awesome for old cars with the cassette player!
