Overlooked
Fantastic guitar work by Barry. This band should have been a household name. Blame it on poor promotion by the label. Buy it now.

A Fun Little Disc!
Between this one and Barry Goudreau, I can't choose a favorite Boston spin-off. RTZ is good, but this and the aforementioned are better. Barry Goudreau has a sound more like Boston and this one is more original and fun. This one has Brad Delp in the backseat vocally; he is just a backing singer. Fran Cosmo is the lead singer in this one.The Music:This has an 80's rock sound. It's awesome!1. All Those Years- This starts off the album with a mid tempo rocker. It has a nice synthesizer part on top of the melody and everything else. I really enjoy this song.2. So You Ran- This is the only single from the album...and it's not even the best song! It's good, but we haven't even hit the good stuff yet :) It follows All Those Years example of a mid tempo rocker with a strong melody. This one isn't as heavy on synths, but the guitar melody in the background makes up for it.3. Dreamin'- A slow, heavier song. I find this one to be more worthy to be a single. This one has a very unique sound and I absolutely love the chorus and the entire song. Fran's passion on this song make it great alone, but the atmosphere set by the music gives it even more personality as far as songs go.4. Dark and Stormy- A nice ballad that probably should've been all over the radio back then, but it wasn't to be. It's a great ballad, but I guess I can kinda see why it wasn't on the radio. It's a great song, though, that much I'm sure of.5. Stand Up- This is a nice rocker but it falls just a bit short. It's good and fun to listen to, but I wouldn't listen to it all the time like Dreamin' or Joanne. It is a nice uptempo song and I'd say it has a good chance of growing on me.6. Fast Talk- Another up tempo rocker and very catchy! I love this one! It's a fun little tune and very good. 80's music is awesome, even if it wasn't famous 80's music!7. Too Much In Love- Catchy: yes, Fun to listen to: yes, Slightly different: yes. This song isn't completely out of place but it has a different vibe than the others in my opinion. It is a catchy song, but I'm not into it like the other songs.8. Joanne- This is a GREAT ballad. This is what ballads should sound like. Very inspired, very meaningful, and musically beautiful! I love this ballad almost as much as Journey's Faithfully (yes it ranks that high!). This isn't your average ballad. It's great!9.I Call It Love- A fun little tune to end this awesome album! I like this song and it ends with a bang! great song!Verdict: If you like Boston, Journey, Survivor, or just 80's rock, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting this album! You will not be sorry at all! This is what the 80's was all about, although, I don't know why this album wasn't bigger. It really makes you wonder, doesn't it?

How did I miss this album ?
Despite being a Boston fan from the beginning...I've only discovered the "spin off" bands like RTZ...and Orion The Hunter within the past 3 years....and all I can say is how did I miss them....especially "Orion The Hunter" ?Barry Goudreau...the underated former Boston guitarist formed "Orion The Hunter" in between his very good self titled solo album and RTZ...and I've got to say this is a fine piece of work ! It's great "80's" rock...ALOT like Starship and Journey in many ways...but with more sophistication and a more progressive sound...and hearing it for the first time today...it just blew me away ! Why didn't this band make it ?The whole thing is great...but the standout cuts are "Dreamin" and "Dark And Stormy" . Brad Delp of Boston provides writing and backing vocals to this great CD. If you enjoy Boston...the "spin off" work...and above average 80's rock...add " Orion The Hunter" to your shopping cart now !

Bad mastering or duplication
Razor and Tie, the re-mastering, duplication production company that apparently oversaw and provided the CD version of a once-only-available- on-cassette album, messed up by not adhering to a tighter quality control policy. There appears to be a glitch on my particular copy and possibly a whole batch of them seeing as the duplication process is performed in lots. The problem occurs on the first track. The second song (So You Ran) actually begins at the end of the first track.10 or so seconds into the song the the second track kicks in, leaving a space and audible gap or space/glitch during the first verse.I tried the CD on a few different CD players and it's a consistent problem.I've advised the retailer "AMAZON" of the issue, but I am not optimistic that they will have (in stock) a copy of the CD that is without this flaw since they buy in bulk and this could effect 100's if not 1000's of CD's that they (and others) have. Plus, they won't be able to test one out to see if it has the glitch prior to replacing the one I have - that is if they even care about the problem or to replace it.I would hate to think that there are only cut-rate versions of this album out there doing a grave injustice to this great effort by a once relatively obscure "Boston" spin-off.But it's worse knowing that customers are paying (royalties/commisions) for a less than quality product.Just a heads up for you fans of Boston out there.

It's got nothing in common with the "Boston sound" but decent rock music!
This album is a straightforward 80's rock album ala "Journey" or "Def Leppard". It could be any of the bands you heard on FM radio during the 80's. It is not a "Boston" album and has nothing in common with the guitar work, production, or soaring vocals or harmonies from that group, really. There's a familiarity with some of the musicians, of course, however this is a wholly different sound than "Boston"

A unique band
This is one of a rare occurance in the music industry. The crcumstances that created this band, also caused it to be disbanded (sorry only word I could think of). If you are a fan of the group Boston, this is for you. Barry Goudreau's guitar work really shnes and with the singer Fran Cosmo, and Brad Delp who helped wrote and does some back up vocals. it almost is a duplicate of Boston, (ironic, because Fran Cosmo would replace Brad Delp as the lead singer of BOSTON). Enjoy!!!

Forgotten Gem!!!
Another fine release from Rock Candy, who's remit appears to be resurrecting long lost, forgotten gems such as this.Orion The Hunter brain child of Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau, having departed Boston, Goudreau set about forming his own version of the band.I originally purchased this on vinyl back in '84,a day of release purchase no less, spent the next month or so playing it to death,THIS was the next big band ,i was convinced, history proved otherwise.Side 1 in the old days contained 4 classic AOR/ROCK moments, listen to those vocals, the harmonies, the stun guitar solos, absolute AOR heaven, still cant believe 'So You Ran' isnt revered as a classic, likewise 'Dark and Stormy.,there is no justice sometimes.Truth be told the remaining 5 tracks, were never going to live up to the albums opening quartet.Thats not to say they aint worth listening to,certainly 'Joanne' keeps the quality level sky high while the rest sound like JOURNEY(when they grow a pair and rock out, only the rather dated 'Carribean sound effects on 'Too Much In Love' spoil the moment. The razor sharp production on this remaster, highlights that it was of its time, some may baulk at the electronic effects/programming etc,i prefer to look back fondly at a moment in time that heralded a fantastic album and sadly a false dawn as far as this band goes.Rock Candy have done themselves and the disc proud, with a superb remaster with informative booklet.First class release.

Must Have
I bought this LP originally back in the early 80βs when it first came out. Itβs still a great album by some ex-Boston members. Goudreau really was an underestimated guitarist at the time.

If you like early Boston this is worth a listen
Better things were to come with RTZ but this is a decent cd. The production could have been a little better but there are some good tracks with a hint of the Boston sound. I actually prefer this to Barry's solo album which unfortunately led to him having to leave Boston.
