Great cartoon memories
Excellent cartoons from the heyday of Disney studios. Look as good now as when they premiered.

"Beloved Disney Animation."
Timeless story animated by Disney. Nice short story that children can follow without loosing interest. Like the "Mother Goose" stories read to children all over the world. This is brought to Television so everyone can watch it. Real young children might find it a little scary, so use your own discretion.

'Tis the season for a Halloween classic
I'm of the generation who watched a show Disney aired every Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. I think it was called The Wonderful World of Disney and it was a combination of things – like cartoons, wildlife segments, films, etc. Watching Disney on Sunday nights was a thing we did and then went to bed.I remember both of the films in this set being among the Sunday night selections with Jiminy Cricket as the emcee. My favorite is, of course, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, though not exactly true to the original tale by Washington Irving. But it works for kids and adults alike. My dad used to watch all of our shows with us, which is a nice memory from childhood. I also remember the baseball film about the Mighty Casey, which also aired in the time slot. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is pretty cute and can really be viewed at any time. But the Legend of Sleepy Hollow is definitely a Halloween favorite that I still love to watch as an adult. Bing Crosby is the main voice/narration for this animated film and his voice is a real throwback to a specific time in my childhood so it's also nostalgic. The animation and sound of the Sleepy Hallow film is just as crisp and wonderful and magical now as it was when I was a kid. And there's some bonus features that are nice too, especially for modern kids seeing this for the first time.Recommend.

NEWNESS
I loved showing nostalgia to grands. They were entertained which is more than I can say about some new cartoons.

Something for Halloween.
It's old school Disney, so the animation is absolutely beautiful. BUT the story is a real mixed bag. The first half is an adaptation of 'The Wind in The Willows'. Unfortunately, it's incomplete, and they have thrown in an annoying new character, a horse named Cyril. They rewrote Mr. Toad's prison to include the horse, and it's not good. I've seen better adaptations of the story. But the second half, a re-telling of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, is terrific. An almost perfect adaptation of the story. It's what earned this film four stars from me. I think this part of the film is perfect for watching on or around Halloween.

Early Disney Animation at its BEST! Needs a HiDef Remastering!
I gave this movie 5 stars as the BEST "Animated" adaptation of the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow". Its short, but sweet and is a CLASSIC. When I was a kid, I looked forward to watching this every Halloween. I loved the build up to the chase at the end. Unfortunately, since then there hasn't been a better film adaptation of Irving's masterpiece to compare it to. Perhaps somebody will create one where the plot isn't completely rewritten or twisted and doesn't have so much gorey violence in it. Tim Burton's 'Sleepy Hollow', while the sets were visually stunning and the movie is entertaining, the core story was completely rewritten. The whole side plot where Ichabod is a constable whose father was painted as a religious zealot that brutally killed his mother was completely unnecessary and a total distraction that lent nothing to the main plot. Only the names of Washington Irving's characters are the same. There was so much other significant American history at the time, it's a shame they didn't incorporate any of it. And now (fall 2013) Fox is going off on another 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow' tangent with the 'Sleepy Hollow' TV series where Ichabod was a secret agent for General George Washington, who is brought back to life in order to battle a now Uzi wielding Headless Horseman in modern times because he's one of the 4 horseman of the apocalypse. Seriously???
