Excellent compilation. I do have some of these songs in true stereo (some are mono here), but many like it that way. Now I have both versions. A very underrated performer, he is a must for any collection.

Eddie's best known Stax tracks are here in beautifully remastered glory. He was so much more than "Knock on Wood". I love 60's soul music and it doesn't get much better than Eddie Floyd

La carrière d’Eddie Floyd, compositeur interprète de Rythm and Blues américain, a surtout été productive en 1967 et 1968, bien que cette compilation aille à juste titre jusqu’en 1974.Son succès principal, a été « Knock on wood » (#19 UK - #28 US) en mai 1967 et bien apprécié en France. Il a eu deux autres succès en Grande Bretagne avec « Raise your hand » (#42 UK) en mars 1967 et « Thing get better » (#31 UK) en août 1967. Il a eu deux hits classés aux USA en Pop en 1968 avec « I never find another girl » (#40 US) en septembre et avec la reprise de « Bring it on home to me » de Sam Cooke (#17 US) en décembre. Un dernier succès dans le Pop 50 US en 1970 avec « California girl » (#45) et la même année une bonne reprise de « My girl ». La plupart des autres morceaux ont été relativement bien classés dans le hit-parade R&B US, notamment en 1969 avec l’excellent « I’ve got to have your love » (#50 R&B), « Don’t tell your Mama » (#73 R&B) ou « Why is the wine sweeter » (#30 R&B), « The best years of my life) » (#29 R&B) en 1970, « Blood is thicker than water » (#33 R&B) en 1971 et le dernier hit classé R&B « Soul street (#65 R&B) en 1974.Agréable surprise car j’ai acheté ce CD pour « Knock on wood », ce disque est homogène et très agréable à écouter.
