As others have said, this pillow comes vacuum packed - and it's been packed for a while. The instructions say 'shake' to fluff the filling but this is not possible because the filling is a hard as a rock. After a considerable amount of time busting up the filling with my hands, and kneading, and more busting, and more kneading, I finally got the filling loose enough to actually shake the pillow and -finally- got it loose enough it actually started to expand. That's when the chemical stench hit.Of course, a chemical smell is not unusual for foam products and usually dissipates after a few days. I'm on day 5 and my eyes no longer water if I use the pillow. Yay. But, it still stinks and I'm hoping in another five days the smell will be gone because this is actually one of the more comfortable bed pillows I've tried. The higher back is nice and the loose filling allows for a bit of comfort adjustment.I just hope it quits stinking sooner rather than later.

This pillows are very comfortable and we are quite happy with them. But know that it takes a bit of work to help them fluff out the way they should. Instructions say to shake the pillow for a while or put it in the dryer to break apart the compressed inner material. Instead, we actively pulled apart the lumps of stuffing, handling them from the outside via the covering fabric. It was not hard and took about 10 minutes per pillow. We then let them sit overnight to fluff on their own. It worked out perfectly.

it is nice but lacks the stuffing to make it full and look like the picture as it comes in a very small box I thought I would wait and post comments until it finally had a chance to expand to make it full. Unfortunately it is still lacking after the extended period of time.

This pillow was exactly what I was looking for. I play a lot of video games in bed, and normal pillows or beanbags just don't offer my back the support it needs while playing. This reading pillow is just the right size, provides great back support, and is softer to the touch than I was expecting.To all the folks who reviewed this negatively because the foam didn't expand after unpacking it: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BAG. Since it was vacuum sealed for transport, of course the foam is going to be dense after you pull it out. You have to 'fluff' it, just like any pillow.Let it sit for a few minutes after opening, then knead and break apart the foam with your hands. Spread the foam throughout the pillow, and once it expands, it should be pleasantly plump. I was able to use mine after only an hour.The smell is rather strong right after opening, but just let it air out when you're not using it, and it should fade away noticeably after a few days.Great product, would recommend to my friends!

I couldn't be happier with this pillow!! I bought it for my daughter who is up throughout most of the night nursing twins. I had used one as a student in the '70s. But my 70's version was useless compared to this one. The difference is the stuffing. My original one was floppy. This one is practically overstuffed! So it perfectly does the job of supporting my daughter's back.

This pillow came in the mail today. You are supposed to wait 24 hours for it to fully get its form. It comes rolled up like some of the mattress come now. It’s not looking good so far though. It won’t even sit up. Also, I bout this for my 14 year old son who is 5’10”. This pillow is made for a 2 year old toddler. It’s tiny! I thought for $40 it was bigger. I bought a bigger and better one at Target a few months Ago for $15.I am looking into returning this, but I’m not sure how during this quarantine.

The top end of the pillow could do with more stuffing. Even fluffing it up for well over the required five minutes as per the instructions, the top end still remained fairly saggy as the stuffing collapses on itself a bit due to gravity. Maybe there should have been a separate chamber at the top end for more stuffing. Although, I think shipping it flat and vacuum packed is a good idea, in theory, it may never recover its full fluffiness because of it. Otherwise it is great on my back in bed, providing much needed comfort and support.

This reading pillow was purchased to help me sit upright and or lie comfortably on my couch which has a low back and stiff side-arms. (The couch is generally comfortable, but I find I remain immobile for long periods while playing video games (even VR games) or binge watching stuff on Netflix.This reading pillow does a nice job for what I purchased it to do. It's an awkward fit for my needs, but I don't know that I could expect more from it. I think a breathable all-foam rather than shredded-foam might be more comfortable, but this reading pillow is good enough for my needs.

I had shoulder surgery and found it hard to sleep or get comfy with stacks of pillows,after weeks of discomfort i looked into support pillows,the nomad is fantastic,i can finally sleep and get comfy with good firm back support, only problem is cant take cover off but quick damp wash brings it back to new,am very happy 5 stars for the nomad pillow.
