Not perfect, but surprisingly good
I have been looking for a "portable theater" to watch movies comfortably on the plane, and could not find anything satisfactory. There are two main products in this field, the Avegant Glyph and the Royole Moon, which cost two to three times what the Safodo Vision-800 cost. The Safodos are surprisingly small and nicely finished. The branches fold up, and the folded glasses fit easily in a jacket pocket, a feat most of its competitors can only dream of. Even better, it works without any wires. The end part of the branches can be removed and replaced by an elastic strap (provided). Earbuds at the end of a short wire can be plugged into jacks on the branches. The power button is located in front at the bottom, next to the microSD card slot. The glasses even feature a camera in front. The lenses are not adjustable to your vision and can't really be used with glasses, so they're only for people with decent vision (I'm a contact lens wearer and it worked well for me). The two displays can slide left and right to adjust to the wearer's inter pupillary distance. They do not provide an immersive experience; you can still see above and below the glasses, and the best experience I could compare it to is watching a 27" screen from 6 feet away. Eyelets are provided, but they get in the way of folding up the branches. The picture is crisp, well contrasted, with good color, and you can't see the pixels. The background around the picture is not black, but gray; this seems a little odd but I suspect it contributes to eye comfort. By pressing and holding the multi selector on the left branch, you can toggle the 3D SBS mode on or off. That's a brilliant feature: you don't need special software for 3D, when you activate the 3D SBS mode the left half of the frame buffer is sent to the left display and the right half to the right display, after anamorphic correction (they're stretched horizontally to fill the display). On the other hand, it is ONLY compatible with side by side content, top/bottom or interleaved will have to be converted. What we have here is essentially an Android device running a customized version of 4.4, with 1GB RAM, Bluetooth, WiFi, and Play store access. I was able to download Plex and VLC without problems, and watched a couple of shows on Plex, everything worked fine. 3D is pretty convincing. The rocker wheel on the left branch is insufficient to properly use the Android interface on board, but Safodo includes a wireless mouse that will help you with the initial setup (it took me a while to locate the USB dongle which is well hidden inside the battery compartment). With the help of the mouse, you can turn on WiFi and Bluetooth, and connect to your WiFi network and a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.PROS- Inexpensive- Compact and lightweight- Comfortable to wear- Adjustable IPD- Bluetooth and WiFi- Play store compatible- microSD card slot- No wires- Good watching experience- Convincing, hardware based 3DCONS- fairly short battery life (a little over 2 hours with WiFi and bluetooth activated, but you can charge simultaneously with a battery pack)- less than immersive experience- ageing, non-upgradeable version of Android (4.4)- limited resolution (lower than 720p) so some app interfaces are borderline cumbersome to use (Play store, Plex...)- no focus adjustment option on the lenses make these unsuitable to people who require glasses.- no carry case (I really would have loved an EVA carry case for these, even as an option)In conclusionI didn't really know what to expect, but I'm extremely pleased with these glasses, especially considering the price. While they don't provide the same viewing quality as the Avegant Glyph, they're considerably smaller, lighter and more comfortable to wear. In my opinion they're an excellent product as long as you're aware of the limitations and don't expect a 4K IMAX theatre experience.

Perfect for Air Travel
I spend about 12 hours in an average week in air travel.I bought this device for so that I can watch movies on the plane.I added a 32 gb micro-SDHC card and a small hand-held bluetooth keyboard. The battery life is not impressive, only about 1 hour. So I also purchased one of those cellphone quick charger batteries. Problem solved. Now, I am able to spend the entire flight in complete isolation. It is amazing. This device supports the Matroska format (*.mkv files) , *.mp4 files, and others. This device has wifi, and can connect to the Google Store. But to be honest, I only use it to watch movies.I love this thing!
