The piece is the winner of Bead Dreams 2016 Contest - Metal Clay Category. When lovers are enveloped in a warm embrace, the sense of devotion cloaks the individual perspectives. That although we see ourselves as an individual with a unique perspective, unity is felt within the deep connection to another. In this piece, the wonderful Labradorite is a symbolic representation of the unity of love. The opposing decorative elements used to represent the male and female (Yin - Yang), both embracing the love. The asymmetric elements of this piece collaborate to produce a continuous flow through the contrasting textures. Neutral space is used around the stone to maintain proportion and balance allowing all elements to share the attention of the eye. The handmade clasp also symbolically reproduces the bond created by devotion. The reverse of this pendant is highly decorated representing the beauty of the unseen. For it is better to know than to show... This piece has a high patina (oxidized) producing the effect of a newly discovered relic that is destined to become an ancestral heirloom. To contrast this effect, a smooth satin finish has been applied to the silver. Each metal element (excl. chain & bezel wire) where hand formed or carved in fine silver metal clay pre-firing. The variation in patina and textures where applied to enhance the contrast of textures with the beautiful Labradorite gemstone.
