Nurture My Heart--A Nurtured Heart Approach Handbook

As a foster parent I am always in need of finding a way to guide the children without getting upset with them. This approach is amazing, and so easy. The book is perfect for helping the children understand this different approach and giving me the details that I needed to understand the approach in a quick read.

This is an excellent book for parents, teachers, therapists, etc. it starts as a children's book to explain the ground-breaking communication stratgey of "The Nurtured Heart Approach" and then it has several pages for adults with a formal introduction to the Nurtured Heart Approach, along with some really helpful tips. I feel the book's style--first being an illustrated children's book and then giving text on behavior stratigies--really invites people to open up and learn about this strategy. It is less intimidating than a formal text or book, and is a wonderful starting place for hesitant parents or teachers.The Nurtured Heart Approach was originally created as an approach to heal challenging children, and now is seen as a parenting/teaching style to help all children realize their greatness.The Nurtured Heart Approach was created by Howard Glasser and in his book "Transforming the Difficult Child."For many, this book could be the first step toward transformation.

Simple and fantastic to use.

I love this book and if you get a chance to meet the author she is equally stunning in her positive way she navigates life. As a school psychologist it has been a staple for my parents to begin shifting their words toward their children. It is about seeing what's right, staying out of what is not, and being clear with your expectations and it is all explained simply in this beautiful book for a child's heart. The simplicity of the words makes it easy to understand and supports parents who are looking to use the Nurtured Heart Approach. It also is easy for children to hear and feel cared for and nurtured. I love the back section as it is a quick and easy summary of the Nurtured Heart Approach. I had a parent share with me they were going to show their relatives this as a great way to explain what they were trying to do in parenting their young children. This is a book of HEART! Love it!

I recieved my copy of Nurture My Heart in the mail and was overjoyed. The book is useful in so many ways. As a counseling studnet, I see it being used during family therapy and although I have not done so yet, I see the books use when in session with adults. The message is clear and powerful that we all must value the importance of what is inside each of us and thereby recognize te greatness inside each other. It is THE perfect gift for the holidays for families, for friends, and for the self. Personnally I CANNOT wait to start using it as the basis for a parenting class.
