Godzilla FAQ: All That's Left to Know About the King of the Monsters

Well done (NOT self-published) Godzilla Book
To cut to the point: Yes, this is a solid good Godzilla book. And it is worth your money. Also, on the plus side, it has photos!!! And on the negative side, it has photos. I say this because Toho Co. Ltd. is notorious for going after publications that use stills from the Godzilla series without permission. I could be very wrong, but from the way the images are credited, I don't get the impression that Toho had anything to do with this book. So essentially, I would snatch this up fast to be on the safe side lest it should disappear.More importantly though, how does this book stack up to the better Godzilla books by Ed Godziszewski, Steve Ryfle, August Ragone and others? If you've read the books from the aforementioned authors, you probably won't learn a whole lot. However, this book does have information that the others don't, such as nice detailed bios for the likes of Henry G. Saperstein, Tomoyuki Tanaka, and other series stalwarts. The only reason I didn't give this nice, professional title five stars is that it does have some errors. These aren't of the "Godzilla wins the Japanese version of King Kong vs. Godzilla" variety like in Ian Throne's book, this author points out that Kong wins in both versions, but there will still some mistakes that certainly surprised me (for instance, the author mentions that Son of Godzilla liberally borrows stock footage from Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, when I assume he means All Monster Attack/Godzilla's Revenge. Son of Godzilla used the Sea Monster G-suit for water scenes, but certainly not stock-footage of Godzilla and Ebirah!!!). However, I wouldn't let this stop you from buying the book. It is a quality item more than worthy of any kaiju bibliophile's collection. And like I said, snatch it up before someone at Toho causes them trouble!!!

Not bad but could use one with more pictures.
Its got a good history on Godzilla which is pretty cool but I bought for my kid since he loves Godzilla. In one of the reviews it mentioned it had pictures but does not go into detail on how many. I mostly bought it thinking it was more pictures esque book. I was wrong there are a few pictues in it but it's mostly worded documenting Godzilla movies. So maybe my son when his able to read he might enjoy it more.

Godzilla book is tops
This book is so much better than I expected. My 10 year old grandson is a Godzilla fanatic and this book has so many details regarding all the monsters in all the movies. Facts about characters and actors. Way too much to write down. You will not be disappointed.

Bought this for my nephew. Big Godzilla fan.Moderate in size but thick. The pictures have a lot of Japanese writing on the movie pictures but, wow, nice!! Good pictures of the Big G.For the oldschool Godzilla lovers, you can't go wrong.

The Godzilla fan's go-to book
A great book for kaiju fans, filled with tons of material and background, but it needs a revised edition. The section on Shin Godzilla was obviously written before the movie was actually released (and needs at least a whole chapter by itself). Plus there's only a skeletal mention of the current anime Godzilla films. That aside, this is the aficionado's go-to book for everything pre-Shin: actors, special effects, films, enemies, music, suitmation... everything.Just a personal comment: it's PC for fans to dislike the 1998 American Godzilla, but came on: it wasn't that bad. Sure, it was more The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms than the traditional Godzilla, but it was still fun to watch. And it created a focal point for the entire fan community to discuss what kaiju and Godzilla mean. So I discount the author's critical comments about this film. But the rest is okay.

Good pics, good facts, recommended
Really great guide , a lot of of cool pictures, and a lot of infos. I was hoping at least a pic of the famous shogun warrior figure and sadly the last page of my copy, the page is shredded maybe it was a move from godzilla... recommended

Fantastic Collection
This is a fantastic collection of information and pictures. All one need to know about Godzilla and all films until 2016. Lots of background information. While most can be found on the net, it is nice to have this as a comprehensive collection in one book. A "must have" for Godzilla fans.
