As the packaging reads, this product is not intended to be a life preserver. We did find it to be very beneficial to our experiences of snorkeling and swimming. These activities, particularly in open waters are very tiring. The vests allowed us to enjoy more time in the water because we weren't wearing ourselves out. Secondly, because it helps you float, and because you can inflate it as much or as little as you like, it helped me more safely snorkel areas with shallow reefs. If you do not know, standing on areas where Coral is growing, or even touching it, can be very dangerous to the habitat. Coral is a living being that takes hundreds of years to grow. I was able to safely navigate through more underwater habitats by increasing the inflation of my vest, and therby increasing my buoyancy. I was able to enjoy seeing diverse Marine Wildlife without creating a risk to the plants and animals. Finally the bright colors of the vests helped my partner and I always keep track of each other in the water so that we were close by each other and could keep each other safe.

I was taken on my first snorkeling adventure at 60 years old. I was told I would float in salt water. Didn’t want to chance it so I bought this vest. Once all of the straps were adjusted AFTER they were wet, it felt secure. The crotch strap was uncomfortable at first, but I got used to it. Inflating and deflating were very easy. I inflated too much for the current, therefore too buoyant and was being carried away. I was able to deflate in seconds and float where I wanted to stay. The only thing that bothered me was how it would eventually ride up around my neck, making the wedgie much worse. Tightening the waist straps didn’t help. The second excursion was a paid tour and they provided regular life jackets. I actually found the life jacket stayed on my body where it was suppose to stay. One cannot adjust the inflation of a life jacket, however, so you must be a strong swimmer in currents. After my snorkeling vest dried out, I was able to fold it, put it back in its pouch, and place it in my suitcase. It held up well to 7 days of intense - by my standards - of snorkeling.

overall they are decent quality... for the price that you pay, you will get a cecent snorkel vest. they work, however they are not the highest quality build. dont expect them to last more than a year.

Comfortably fit to my body

We used our lifevests at our hotel's Lazy River and they all worked well. They were easy to unpack and inflate them. The vest didn't pull up to my chin as some reviewers mentioned because I secured all the ties well. The vest was comfortable and easy to deflate and reinflate. We had no trouble repacking our vests into their mesh bags. Definitely recommended.

Crotch Straps are extremely disturbing and are super ultra long, so it takes forever to put this one and block all those straps ( crotch and waist) going all over the place.Sending this back today

I go swimming every other day in the lake. I have a tendency to veer to the right. So i have to look and see where I'm heading. It's very difficult to look up and see where I'm headed doung the crawl. But with this vest on I can look up while swimming and adjust my direction without having to switch to the breast stroke anymore. I'm 6 ft 8 " 250 lbs. The straps even have extra length after putting on. Don't expect this to last for ever as it's only $12 and I will use it ever other day. But it was a cheap way to see if this type of product works for me. I can move my arms unhindered. When swimming it stays in place nicely. When standing (vertical) itcdoes tend to ride up like other reviews mention but not that it bothered me much. Seems more comfortable than I expected. I thought the strap through the crotch would be uncomfortable, but it didn't bother me while swimming (horizontal). Bottom line it exceeds my expectations in comfort, ability swim freely and being able to look up and see where I'm going. I use a mask and snorkel so I can't speak whether it would interfere with breathing while swimming.
